I recently had the pleasure of staying at this hotel in the countryside of Tromso, Norway, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The hotel was located in a stunningly beautiful area, surrounded by lush forests and snow-capped mountains, and the peaceful surroundings made for a truly relaxing getaway. One of the standout features of this hotel was the exceptional local food served in their restaurant. The meals were prepared using the freshest local ingredients, with many of the vegetables and herbs grown on-site. The menu featured a variety of traditional Norwegian dishes with a modern twist, and each course was a work of art on the plate. The flavors were absolutely delicious, and the presentation was impeccable. The staff were also incredibly welcoming and helpful, with great recommendations for local activities and excursions in the area. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tromso, especially those looking for a peaceful countryside getaway with exceptional local food. It was truly a magical experience, and I can't wait to return.

We travelled to Tromso having been told we'd have the best opportunity to see the northern lights, sadly the weather wasn't too good due to clouds, very disappointing. We did however go on a scenic tour of mountains an ffiords which was absolutely brilliant and more than made up for the disappointment of the northern lights - or lack of them. A lovely town to walk around with interesting, but expensive, shopping to be had. We also went up the dizzy heights on a cable car, fabulous views and hot chocolate! Would definitely visit again.
A beautiful place to visit in the winter. There are lots of activities to do but are very expensive. We traveled as a family. Think Tromso has something for all age groups to enjoy. We stayed at Clarion With hotel the included meals snacks and hot drinks were much appreciated in such an expensive country. The alpine park a short bus ride from Tromso is a great place where locals go skiing , snow showing and sledging. Kit can be hired from outdoor shop on Tromso. Could be a slightly cheaper option for a day out.
Ideal for the excursions planned. We did find Tromso very expensive which would probably prevent us returning whic is sad. We enjoyed Pinocchios Italian restaurant and Egon. We went snowshoe walking on our first day which we all enjoyed and was a great way to see Tromso. Tromso is compact so it is easy to walk around just be careful as it can be sluppery in places but mostly the pavements were well treated. The science museum is a good place to visit if you have children.
Loved Tromso. The city offered enough of interest to look around for one day and as a base for activities. Highlights in the city were the cable car and walk there via the bridge and artic cathedral. Loads of things to do outside the city and to get the best of the experience you need to go out and see the surrounding area. For the active, snowmobiling and dog sledging were fantastic. The fjord trip was also well worth it. We saw the northern lights every night but to see them at their best you need a trip out and away from the lights of Tromso. Trips were expensive but worth it to experience the best of Norway.
Great vibe & hospitality from locals. Breathtaking scenery! The Arctic Cathedral & the Cable car (Fjellheisen) should be on everyone's list for Tromso. You can also walk up/hike the Storsteinen mountain ledge once you reached the top with the cable car. I've only visited one restaurant - Kaia 11 - can't go wrong with anything you order there. :)
The northern light chase was fantastic with company “Chasing Lights” fantastic staff and tour guides - but also Tromso has lots of choice of operators and different types of trips, one to suit everybody and don’t think you’d find a bad experience. Husky sledding was great fun too. Loved wandering round the town, a very relaxed place. A couple of good museums, the cable car for the view, some cute cafes and a few nice shops. Pretty sights along the waters edge. Perfect amount to see for a long weekend break (3 nights 3 days). Some nice seafood restaurants but prices are pretty high, as in a lot of Scandinavia.
Kvaloysletta an ideal spot for visiting Tromso. Everything in easy reach by car. We stayed in Hakoya and had spectacular views of the Northern Light displays from our balcony. The dog sledding experience is a must, the huskies are adorable, we were overwhelmed by the experience.
You should be ready for breathtaking visit to wonderful Arctic Tromso. We're arrived at late evening at Tromso Airport and easy found Airport Express Shuttle Bus to City Center with Single Way ticket price NOK 100.00 We're stayed at Enter Tromso Apartments a great place to stay with family or friends. First night we're spant to watch Aurora Lights around 11pm Incredible and Unforgettable! We spent next day to go by Cable Car to Fjellheisen where imaginative views on Tromso very recommended. If you travel to Tromso in December - January you should take Whale Boat Trip and you will never forget that. Tromso is a great place to be someday in your life.
Sraumsbukta is a small village right on the shoreline of the island of Kvaloya. A stunningly beautiful mountainous area, with sea views all around. We skied from the carparks to amazing summits and all the way back to the car at the sea shore...every day! We were treated to Reindeer walking casually around the village, foxes and even Moose in the evenings! Eagles flying overhead in the mountains, and spectular views in all directions. There's an excellent local supermarket with delicious local produce, and Tromso is 35 min away for a bit of "city life" & culture. Flights to and from Tromso are easy and not too expensive. I would love to go back in summer for some hillwalking and climbing.
We went there to experience nature and midnight sun. Unfortunately the weather spoiled the view to the midnight sun however our other experience of the nature was ok. Remember to bring all sorts of clothing as the weather is un-predictable. Tromsø City itself seems worn - does not fit the image of a wealthy nation.
Location was great in the center of Tromso. Staff were exceptional from reception being very friendly and helpful, The breakfast lady was great and always had a smile on her face and housekeeping were also friendly and helpful. Loved the night time waffles, the breakfast was great and cake and tea and coffee facilities were available 24/7. Beds were comfy and the shower was hot, with good pressure and heated floors. The view from the room was straight across the water to the cable car. Hotel located directly opposite the bus stop.
We loved staying at Marthas Apartments. The view was amazing! We even saw the Northern Lights from our living room window on the last night of our stay! The rooms were spacious and the furnishings, including the bed, were very comfortable! Best of all was the host family. Daughter Christine gave us a fine introduction to the area, with day trip suggestions. Host Are was especially helpful in getting us to our Northern Lights adventure on the night of a huge concert in Tromso! Martha provided a spacious living space! Fabulous.
Tromsø
Parking is not great but that's not the hostels fault so much as the system is setup much differently in Europe than North America's motorway culture demands. Parking is very confusing and very expensive and fines are steep too. Europe isn't setup for parking and car culture in most urban centers understandably scsetup much more for public transportation. Tromsø is also on an island so understandably they are trying to curtail personal vehicle traffic aggressively while attempting to reduce global CO2 transmissions.
WOW, It's a real gem in Tromso. The apartment 's very fantastic and fully-equipped with everything, more than you expected. The host was very nice, helpful, and thoughtful. We could see the northern lights right here from the windows even KP rate was just 3!! No need to hunt😁,exactly as advertised😁. At first,I was selecting between this apt. and another fully-equipped apt. which was like a 3 times cheaper. Finally, I chose this one because its ads about northern lights and not disappointing at all. Highly recommend.
Tromsø
Stunning view from the apartment, always changing. Apartment was easy to access and Kevin the host was very welcoming and available throughout our stay. Apartment had a well planned layout and was very quiet at night. Everything we needed was provided. We enjoyed the walk into central Tromso, just under 30mins but buses were also readily available. The shower was hot and powerful after a day in the snow. We needed the heater provided in the downstairs bedroom, the rest of the apartment was warm and cosy.
Tromsø
The property was in a superb location…10 minute taxi ride from the airport and 10 minute bus ride from Tromso Harbor. The bus stop of Somerenvegen was a 2 minute walk from the house. We were able to take bus 40 everyday and the Wi-To stop was perfect for dropping us right in the middle of downtown. The view from every window in the apartment was stunning. It was nice to be able to fix food every morning which helped cut some of the costs of eating out. Having a washer/dryer was nice as well.
The apartment is very nicely decorated, functional and cozy. There is everything you need for cooking your own meals, washing clothes, resting. There is also a big tv and a sofa to enjoy movies etc, if the weather is not that nice for outdoor activities. Excellent skiing mountains nearby and all the services of Tromsø (for exemple a great swimming hall and excellent indoor bouldering facilities) just a short drive away. The host family made us feel really warmly welcome - thank you.
Tromsø
Spacious apartment with two bedrooms that is good for families traveling together. Good views from the apartment over the water and mountains near Tromso. There is still a lot of construction equipment and cranes as the Vervet neighborhood is still being built. Kitchen is well equipped and the location is around 10 minute walk from the port / central Tromso. The hosts were flexible with an early check in as we arrived in the morning.
Fantastic breakfast buffet every morning - tons of options for everyone and considering the food in Norway is so expensive, it probably saved us money! Location is great, lots of excursions meet at this hotel or opposite, and it was a great central point to explore Tromso. It only took us about 15-20 mins by taxi to get there from the airport, and there's a regular airport bus too.
This hotel was very nice! Small but cozy room, great location. Probably the cheapest stay we could find in Tromso but we were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back! They also allowed us to check-in early for a small fee and to leave our baggage there after check-out (for free) :) We also bought a reeindeer and sami culture tour at the hotel and it was great
Apartment looks exactly like the photos. A lovely apartment. Loads of lively little touches like small snacks, condiments, bathing stuff, laundry, cleaning detergent etc. A massive TV! We met the owners when we arrived and they were very friendly. Rooms were lovely and warm if you use the heaters provided. Would definitely stay again if we were in Tromsø.
Tromsø
can’t rate Amalia; they had some issue with our room and gave us a free upgrade to St Elisabeth Appmt 10 min uphill. free taxi, larger apartment and fabulous views over Tromsø, a spacious flat with all amenities :). We can recommend the top floor in-house restaurant for its great food, stunning views and 20% discount for residents.
The location was okay because Tromso is such a walkable city: two blocks from the harbor. There were a number of restaurants nearby and the Extra Supermarket was just up the street. Because we were there when the sun was up 24 hours a day, the room darkening curtains were adequate for my husband to sleep (but not for me :-)).
quiet area on the hill with a superb view of Tromso. Apartment is clean. Amenities was beyond what we were expecting! nice touch with the bowl of chocolates and candies! pleasant neighborhood- easy to walk to town (wear crampons when icy), bus service 1 block away, taxi service easy to get both ways. internet was super fast.
Very friendly staff compared to other hotels in Norway Amazing breakfast with lots of options (5+ kinds of breads, fresh waffles, pancakes, brownies, eggs, bacon, meatballs, smoothies, yoghurts, fruits, vegetables) Location right in the middle of Tromsø Very nice shower water Large size bed (2 singles put together)
Perfect and comfortable apartment - very well equiped with free parking and nice view. Perfect location if you like to stay outside of the city. Apartment is really 15 min from Tromso by car. Bed was very comfortable, apartment very clean and modern. Wifi was fast and worked well. Very friendly hosts.
The 'family room' we paid for was indeed good for a family, and the breakfast was a big hit with everyone. Plus, Tromso is small, so the hotel is plenty close to anything you want to do. Bonus: Hotel is right next door to Skarven, a great set of restaurants to try the local cuisine.
The apartment is amazing - has everything possible you might need. Great location (in front of a supermarket), parking slot (not easy to find in Tromsø), very helpful and kind host. Will definitely come back to this apartment on a next visit to the beautiful Tromsø.
Very nice and clean apartment, comfortable beds (everyone traveling with me commented that they slept exceptionally good), walking distance from our Northern Lights tour and the shops, and great host. We felt right at home and had a great stay in Tromsø!
Hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and places of interest in Tromso. I love best that the Tromso book in the room was just given to me for free by the desk clerk when I was offering to buy it instead. muvh appreciated.
