Winten is a tiny little place, or area, amongst forests and vineyards. There is not much to do apart from enjoy the natural surroundings, go for walk, bike riding, visiting wineries and some other low key local exhibitions or museums. All very small scale and slow paced. The locals are very friendly and helpful, most of them are happy to have a good old natter about some historical facts or events. Which is true not just for Winten but also for many other villages and places we visited in the south of Burgenland. We were made feel welcome everywhere we went. The only difficulty for us was to find vegetarian meals in pubs and restaurants. To get around you are probably best of with a car or at least a bicycle.
