Located in Mérida’s historic centre, Hotel Paula Films Collection is 400 metres from the Roman Forum and 250 metres from the train station. Breakfast (Desayuno) consisted of toast, fresh squeezed orange juice, and coffee. It was good, inexpensive (6 Euro per person), but minimal. Hotel was wonderfully decorated with movie scenes on all the walls. We purposely took the stairs to enjoy all the Disney characters.

NH Gran Hotel Casino de Extremadura is next to the Guadiana River, 10 minutes’ walk from Badajoz city centre and Alcazaba Fortress. It offers free WiFi and houses the Gran Casino de Extremadura. The facilities are excellent, the room was quiet (with a nice view of the Guadiana river) and the location was also very good (close to the bridge that leads to the old town). But the highlight was the amicability and professionalism of its staff, particularly DAVID at the reception who went out of his way to give us a nicer room and much earlier than the standard check-in time. This is the attitude that differentiates certain hotel staff from others, and DAVID's attitude in pleasing the customer is rated at the top of his profession. I congratulate NH Extremadura for the quality of its staff, as represented by DAVID.

We had a nice dinner and a powerful breakfast in the restaurant. 100% recommended if you are passing through Badajoz area and need a place to stay.

Set in Zafra and with Santuario de la Piedad reachable within 34 km, Hotel Casa Ernestina offers a tour desk, non-smoking rooms, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free WiFi throughout the property and... We were entirely pleased with our overnight stay at Hotel Ernestina. It was a cold and rainy night, and the terrace room with a kitchen was a perfect place for an overnight rest. There are radiators plus the ductless heating - the room was warm and comfortable in no time. The kitchen had everything so we were able to prepare a nice light dinner with food we brought - we didn't want to go out in the cold and rain again. Ask for bedding if you intend to use the sofa bed. Parking on the street where the hotel is located is only permitted up to the first intersection. Watch for the yellow lines in the road.

This was one of the most beautiful hotels on our long trip in Spain! In the middle of the countryside, the beautiful architecture of the hotel convey an oasis of calm! We also loved the great service and the wonderful breakfast and dinner! The rooms were beautifully furnished, very comfortable with very good beds and pillows! From our side this hotel is a little jewel and recommendable! Many thanks to all the staff for this great stay! Therefore, clearly a 10 rating!

A great place for walking and eating jamon.
This pretty town has a wide variety of places to eat, plenty of interesting little shops and a very good museum on jamon, made out of the black pigs that feed on acorns in the fields around the town. I had lunch in 'Rinconcillo' restaurant and it was superb. The Museo del Jamon is very interesting and the tourist office, situated within the museum has a knowledgeable, English-speaking tourist officer only too willing to help you get the most out of your stay. An excellent area for walking and exploring the countryside. Not too far away is the ancient Monastery of Tentudía situated at the highest point in Badajoz Province, Extremadura. There is a good café-bar up there with a terrace looking out over the most amazing view. I had lunch there and it's called 'El Balcón de Tentudía'. There is a lot to do in the area.
