Just stayed one night after long train ride arriving in early evening. Nice reception area etc. Room was nothing special but then nothing terrible, just overdue for a new fit-out, but was it clean and a good size and even had a door to open onto street etc. Priced right for budget travellers, or when you just want a bed for the night to break up a long train trip. Breakfast was actually very good in the nice area downstairs and we left for the station soon after.

It was a simply wonderful stay. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean and the room was perfect. It was spacious, pristine and decorated superbly, in fact even more beautiful than the photos. The staff were delightful - they were all so gentle, kind and friendly and went out of their way to help us.
Breakfast was delicious and included lovely home made cakes and biscuits + granita.
The position of the hotel is excellent, in fact our room had views over the sea, and there is easy access to the port and the main attractions such as the Duomo, the stunning astronomical clock which is a must see and the theatre opposite the hotel.
We will most definitely return, this hotel is 5 stars, a boutique style hotel with the highest standards. It was such a pleasure to meet the staff who make this hotel so special. A huge thank you to you all.

Unaware that ferry arrival at almost midnight was at a cargo terminal, miles from anywhere, no taxis but helped by kind crew member. Nervous as solo traveller but most accommodating receptionist guided me by phone into stay. Tramline on waterfront easy access to station.
Only stopping point to Palermo - can’t judge attractions.

Messina is a pretty city in a beautiful spot that is off the radar for most travelers.
The cathedral, rebuilt after the 1908 earthquake, is beautiful, with Byzantine mosaics in the apses that miraculously survived. The clock tower mechanical clock is spectacular even though it only operates once a day.
The regional museum is full of treasures that were salvaged from churches destroyed in the earthquake. The highlights are two Caravaggios and an Antonello da Messina triptych.
Interestingly, Messina appears not to promote itself. The tourist office seemed to always be closed. I ended up asking in shops what sights to see, how to get to them on busses, and for restaurant recommendations. Locals were very glad to help me with that information.

The town is Ok for a day & night.
The town is Ok for a day & night. The cathedral at 12pm is the biggest thing in town and it is worth a look for the curious. Note all the bars around the square have a surcharge just to sit down - which they don't advertise. Try the Sri Lankan restaurants around town, delicious food at a great price.

Messina doesn't have a lot of attractions - the Camponile was interesting to see at midday, as well as the Norman cathedral, for which you could really see the Mudejar influence - something I found surprising for Italy.
OTOH, it also means there were fewer tourists about, which suited us to a tee.
If you are into hiking, it looks like the mountains above the city would have some nice trails with views out over both the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas.
The apartment is beautiful and super clean with comfort bed and pillows, just one minute walk from city centre. Rosario and Antonella are super nice, they have shared with us great places to visit and where to have dinner. There is parking just in front of the building and it can be payed with EasyPark app which is great to have installed when visiting Italy. I would highly recommend and would definitely come back.
Everything about Dolce Vita was outstanding. Angelo met us at the door and made us feel welcome. The room was lovely, and sparkling clean, with coffee for the morning. Location is convenient to sightseeing, parking is manageable, building is secure. Breakfast was by voucher to a nearby cafe. We would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Messina.
The staff were first class. The decor and the ambience was beautiful. Very well appointed and very peaceful. Breakfast was the best we’ve had on our entire trip! The room was comfortable and had great amenities. We weren’t wanting for anything. We would highly recommend your property. It was a great way to end our holiday on Sicily.
The little hotel is very close to the centre. The owners are beyond friendly! I sprained my ankle on my first night and they were so sweet and helpful with all the needs I suddenly had!
I am so thankful for this! It is by far nothing you would expect- but especially for solo traveling it is amazing to find caring people like this!
We loved our stay at La Casa Di Ale. The host was so sweet and accommodating, bringing us special treats. The facility was absolutely beautiful and extremely well kept. Such a beautiful view of the sea and your own private beach to enjoy. Are only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. One of our favorite stays in all of Sicily.
In Italy the breakfast is not exactly the continental size. Here you have perfect choice of whatever you need. Very good cofee and omelet. Great people and very kind. If visiting Messina this is a perfect choice. Parking nearly for free in front of the hotel. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. Love the bathroom!!!
Staying here is like staying at the home of an affluent relative. The house is stunning, and does not feel like a hotel at all. Staff are completely unobtrusive and yet very helpful if need be. If you happen to be in Messina, treat yourself to this, you will not be disappointed.
High quality furnishings, luxurious sheets & bath sheet towels, very nice breakfast selection with very fresh coretti, fresh fruit, variety of juices, several kinds of coffee. It was within walking distance of major sights. Messina surprised us with the cleanliness of the city.
The hotel owner is a very kind person. He met me halfway while I was walking to hotel, he picked up my luggage and walked together , he is a real gentleman. The room is very clean, its location is very central and close to important parts of Messina.
Fantastic view of Messina and Italy across the sound. Beautiful apartment and fittings. Very comfortable lounge and bed, great shower. Host was very helpful. The lift was a bonus. One of the best places I've ever stayed in in Europe.
Great place to stay while visiting Messina. Location was so close to everything and at the same time in quite area. Host was really friendly and helpful any time I needed something :).
Really recomended if you wanna visit Messina :)
Really convenient, in the center of Messina, near the historic center and near the motorway junction. Clean and with all comforts. The owner is kind and helpful. I recommend it to everybody. How to find yourself at home.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony is also amazing! The owner told me amazing stories about the building and the city! He also recommended great things to do in Messina.
Fabio the host was very friendly, the room was clean and new. comfortable bed and big bath room.
the location is 2 min walk from the main cathedral and we found public parking next to the hotel
Almost everything. The hotel is a little gem, beautifully designed to almost the smallest detail (it's much better than it looks in the pictures). Room very clean and the staff super nice.
Good location, close to main Piazza and tram stop that takes you directly to Messina Centrale.
Good for a one night stay. Use of shared kitchen / fridge is helpful. Free water.
Great location, well equipped kitchen, there was heating, which is rare in Sicily and when outside is +7 it is nice to have warm apartment and also good internet to work.
