Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

In our last room we did not have a sink in the bathroom. No big problem for us, just maybe some people would mind.
Pamela and her colleagues are really professional and welcoming! Everything worked out flawlessly and we extended our stay. Pamela was always kind and helpful and every room we had was clean and cozy. Ostic has a nice vibe and you can hang around at the pool table. It is in cool neighbourhood (some chill cafes and bars, restaurants but also nice street food) and close to attractions such as the Taman Sari.

Would be nice if there would be more dorms so there would be more backpackers coming.
Best staff ever, so friendly and helpful, they can give you great advice with everything you need, they even have a maps where they can show you all the good eateries around. Also keeping the place clean and nice. Location is great,quiet but so many places in walking distance, prefer it much more than busy center near Marioboro. The communal place is really cosy and comfy, swimming pool is small but good for a dip when it's hot. It's great there is a kittchen. And free pool to play!

The staff is really friendly, everyone welcomed us with big smiles and they were always ready to help. The location is good, if you want to go to the center, you can use the bus/grab, but we prefered this area to walk around. The room is basic, good for the price.

Nothing to mention related to Ostic.
The hostel is located in an area surrounded by many different bars and restaurants, not just Indonesian style, you can find amazing bakeries, homemade gelato and Mediterranean food. Many bars offer live music during the weekends. The staff is very kind and ready to help you with everything: excursions, renting scooters, local food, booking transportation, etc. Special mention to Saturday, he made a real culture exchange with us, inviting us to his house for breakfasting during Ramadan, among other things.

Loud music next, is hard to sleep when next door is a percussion band playing very loud late at night every single night.

Every night a music band play drums next to the hostel and is extremely loud.
Everything was cleaned constantly, staff very polite and helpful. Comfortable beds and good internet.

There is music band playing drums very loud next to the accomodation, I couldn't sleep good a single night because of that.
The staff is very helpful and kind, everything is clean constantly and you can arrange tours with them. Internet works perfectly.

Reading light doesn't work at one of the bed. Also there's this exposed wire which looks dangerous.
Good, clean, and affordable room. Staffs are very friendly with a nice communal space.

Great location in the heart of the city, easy access to cafes and restaurants. Room was clean and comfy, and the staff were especially warm and welcoming. If you're keen on having a massage, they can also help you arrange for one at a sister property nearby. The massage was great and affordable!

We stayed for two nights and we had an amazing stay. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They will help you with anything. Our private room was very clean, especially the bathroom as well. A free water refill option is available with also a shared kitchen to use. Renting a mother bike is also possible (70k 24h). Highly recommended!

Great hostel! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. The food and coffee are delicious. Plus I had a good time hanging by the pool as well! I really recommend this place to anyone going to Yogyakarta.
