Staff was very friendly, breakfast was excellent and it was quiet, pool was nice and warm for the kids too.

Wanted to check in early, asked months ago to find out when we got into town that they let the previous guests stay late by 2.5 hrs and then didn't have our room ready at check-in time. The construction containers around the property were an eye sore, but for the most part the crews working were quiet. Our bathroom fan did not work and asked for it to be fixed while we went to a wedding, came back and it was never fixed.

The upcharge they added because I requested a downstairs room as I was traveling with my 84 year old Mother. Hard for her to do stairs. Even asked for it when booking. Dirty socks and empty water bottle found in room.

The security staff, the fact that we were told we had a place to dock our catamaran at Gilberts at no cost. We were 1st time particpates in a race from Miami to Key Largo and back. The fact that we had to figure out a way to cross Jewfish Creek from the "resort" to get a place to park our catamaran; Gilberts paperwork did not mention there was a $50 fee to use the boat ramp, even though it's run by the resort. The fact that I was yelled at for not wearing the arm band even though Gilberts paperwork says you have to wear it in the pool and on the beach, I was not at either place. The maintenance people were nice but overall, our experience at Gilberts was an expensive, horrible experience. I asked for the $50 to be refunded. I was told no. My husband and I both called ahead of time to make sure what we needed was available.
