Pilgrimage Village Boutique Resort & Spa is a rustic resort in a tranquil area of Thua Thien Hue. It is no exaggeration to state that this is one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed (huge sample size!). The design (physical and landscape) is exquisite and befits the same design masterpieces of the city's main attractions (Citadel and Tombs). It should be featured in "Architectual Digest"! Four Seasons it isn't but why would you want something so corporate and soul sucking (and ten times the price or more) when you can enjoy crossing into this "other world" that offers a respite (practically a "campus") that so elegantly melds nature with function. The facilities are spread out among a huge lobby building (open air), the various room buildings consists of a variety of two-storey buildings, others standalone large bungalows, and others in attached rows centered around beautiful swimming pools. The breakfast is outstanding--the best we had in Vietnam--tons of options. In the same building as the breakfast area, but in the ground floor, is a charming bar. Simply said, the hotel offers a whole lot of benefits at a comparatively high value. All the staff were highly responsive, hard-working, and welcoming---typical beautiful Vietnamese hospitality!

The resort's idyllic location between Hue and Bach Ma National Park makes it a perfect base and a tranquil retreat to unwind after a day of exploration. Can’t wait to be back!

Azerai La Residence, Hue is a classic colonial villa spread over 200 metres on the banks of the scenic Perfume River. The property is magnificent, the staff superb and the food and service outstanding. We came to Hue after 4 nights at the Metropole in Hanoi and felt the same level of luxury and care for guests we had just experienced at the Metropole.

Angsana Lang Co is a modern resort featuring stylish interiors. Its air-conditioned accommodation comes with free Wi-Fi. Offering 2 restaurants and a bar, there is also a spa and outdoor swimming... The resort is a little out of the way but perfect if you are looking for some beachside rest and relaxation. We booked one of the two bed apartments with a pool and it was very spacious and luxurious. Everything at the resort is spotless and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choices were wide and varied and even included free sparkling wine (why not!) and the meals we ate at Moomba and the Rice Bar were fresh and very tasty. You can also go to Banyan Tree resort next door for meals but I honestly wouldn’t bother. We had a buffet meal there one night and it was about three times the price, nowhere near as good as the Angsana food and the staff seemed less experienced. So stick with the restaurants at Angsana. We also had a two hour spa treatment which was one of the best I’ve ever had and the resort has a free shuttle bus to Da Nang airport which was very useful.
