Henry the very friendly manager found us the following day a room without mold smell (a problem arising from the poor drainage in the bathroom). The Thai food at the restaurant was very tasty and the staff willingly replaced the juice in breakfast with a plate of fresh fruit. They also provided us a reasonably priced transportation to the airport. Given that it was the low season -- the oppressive April hot muggy weather -- and we were a few kilometers from the nearest community, the resort was nearly empty and thus quiet. Next to the hotel is a lovely Buddhist complex, the oldest on the island.

I've been to other places in Thailand, and honestly this was the best beach destination. It's a quiet and funny mix of backpackers, families and couples. There are no noisy longtail boats which are extremely annoying in other places such as Koh Pih Pih and Rail Lay. Accomodation is cheaper and you end up having much more food offer. Only drawback is that the waters are not the crystal blue we know from the postcards of south Thailand. But that can be fixed with one or two trips to the coral islands around KL

This is a lovely little town in South Thailand. The nearby rocks add a beautiful scenery. Though the town itself doesn't have any beach, but there are quite a few nearby. Here is one of the most pictouresqe beach on the world, just a short boat ride away. (Railay Beach) On the riverside we could spent hours just to look for the tiny cute crabs and ground walking fishes! ;)

The water is dirty compared to other beaches in South Thailand...but still a great place to stay. Especially if you're interested in Railay Beach. Ao Nang is a great location! Cheaper, more options, great night life, and a cheap long boat ride to Railay Beach!

If you're a regular beach fairing tourist, or jet-setter looking to get tan. Chalong may not be the best place for you. The vast variety of beach resorts that are around the island may be of more worth to yourself If you're a bloodthirsty, fitness minded ruffian - hell bent on being harder, better, faster, stronger and training with elite Crossfiters, MMA fighters and the pedigree of Muay Thai trainers that South Thailand has to offer (and finding the inner peace with regular meditation sessions with the Monks). Then the Soi in Chalong is the place for you. Here, we eat Clen, Tren hard, Anavar give up on ourselves and each other!

Ao Nang is not the place I would spend a romantic vacation -...
Ao Nang is not the place I would spend a romantic vacation - but it is a good hub in between other locations, as the surrounding islands or the backlands of south Thailand for example. Because it has more infrastructure than the surrounding islands, we used our short stays in Ao Nang basically to get things organized: as renting mountain bikes, organizing transfers, maps and other things.

Loved our stay here! We saw some negative comments regarding no food/drinks being served and the pool being dirty so we were skeptical. However, they had a HUGE menu with many options and could tell the pool was being cleaned daily. The beds were a little hard but otherwise we loved our stay. Everything was wonderful. We went here for our honeymoon and from the moment we were greeted to the moment we checked out we felt like we were in paradise. We did a lot of research before picking our hotel and, looking back, would not change a thing. We even visited some of the other nearby hotels at similar price points and we were extremely satisfied with our choice. We loved the special details (tea at nighttime, soaps on demand, cold water at served at the beach) in this beautiful setting. We picked SALA Choengmon for a few reasons: the beautiful beach (clean, soft sand instead of rocks, some cute snorkeling), the resourceful neighbourhood (great to get basics and even not-so-basics like a haircut), the service, the water sport amenities, the fact that it didn't seem like a totally western-style generic resort, and the luxury feel of the rooms. Don't expect a cookie-cutter hotel room here - they have purposely made the design so that you wake up looking out into beautiful trees full of flowers and birds, going to the restroom feels like going to the spa, and you can really disconnect. The rooms don't really have a large / comfortable table to work on (they have a narrow desk) but there is a library and plenty of tables in the common areas - this was a plus for us as it really felt like a special holiday. We also thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, still dreaming of their delicious acai bowls. As it is not a huge property, don't expect endless buffet options - they are curated, delicious, still plenty of good choice between Western and East-Asian, and we really appreciated that the hotel seems to take food waste reduction seriously. We also did the Thai buffet for dinner one night and there were too many delicious options to choose from. Hope to be able to return one day!

We loved it there. It’s a small hotel but it has everything you need for a few days ! The host was very lovely and gave us everyday new towels and water. She ordered a taxi for us. we would definitely come back The bed was hard but it doesn’t bothered us. Thank you !😇

We had a great stay at Panan. The hotel also arranges tour’s to popular attractions and has a free shuttle service. Breakfast buffet was fantastic with a wide choice of variety. Hotel also has activities for adults and kids at great prices. Overall an excellent stay!
