Place was beautiful, hospitality outstanding, full of little attentions: fresh flowers, fruit basket, bottle of wine etc… it is centrally located, you can go anywhere on foot yet it is away from the crowd and very quiet at night. Host was available for any questions. Would recommend in a heart beat!

Dogs barking in the evening but not at night. Walkable to city center, although recommend to rent a car to nearby garage Terauto, very professional, nice and good price.

Great location right in the heart of the harbour. Beautifully clean room with all appliances new and well maintained. A small kitchen, very well equipped, water, tea and coffee etc and a basket of fruit. Very big comfy bed with nice bedding. Compact shower room with lots of towels. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in 45 years of travel. Artistic and funky but also warm, friendly and totally unpretentious. The hotel is an old style property, airy and light with big windows and views to the Pico volcano. It is like a gem of an oasis amidst more recent development on the edge of town, but is only ten mins walk down to the big square and port. Breakfast in the spacious dining room is exceptional and the ladies who run the hotel are charming and helpful. We had the extra benefit and unexpected bonus of the Suite, which was like having your own flat with a terrace! There are some trendy restaurant options down the hill with good food - but rather pricey wine, but we found a couple of traditional older places (Medalhas & Lima) that we liked. For whale-watching, Naturalist are a good science-based outfit and if you are short of time or transport they do an excellent half day island tour too - very informative and not touristy. You can do both in one day!
