Hotel Lara's Planet offers pet-friendly accommodation in El Castillo de La Concepción. The hotel has a barbecue and sun terrace, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. We loved this hotel. Natasha was an angel.Her staff were friendly and helpful. Her rooms were huge, airy, clean, and comfortable. The balcony was a great place for watching the sunset. Breakfast consisted of lots of fruit, eggs, toast, and delicious rice pancakes. Natasha went out of her way to help organize our journey back to Leon. ❤️

Guacimo lodge sits in 40 hectare primary forest property situated close to El Castillo and Indio Maiz biosphere reserve. It features river view bungalows, a large rancho, a yoga deck and a pool. We had an excellent stay in Guacimo. The place itself is beautiful and the facilities were excellent, however it was the staff and excursions that made the trip so special. Manuel had been so helpful corresponding with us before the stay about the logistics of arriving at Guacimo. Our boat from San Carlos was full by the time we arrived and so Guacimo helped by sending their boat to collect us, without which we'd have been stuck for the night in San Carlos. They helped us arrange to see everything that we wanted to whilst there and gave us some great advice on where to go in Nicaragua after our stay at Guacimo. Gustavo was a brilliant guide and taught us so much about the local history & wildlife. Franklin was there to help with any and all queries we had and was great with helping us arrange our onward journey and Margarita cooked us the most wonderful food!

A great place to stay! A lovely old house, clean, comfortable and on a quiet street close to the centre for the bus and boats. The owners are extremely kind people, I needed to change my dates twice due to a chane of plans and then unforseen circumstances and they were very generous and understanding. I booked and stayed here both times I was in San Carlos. Overall, fantastic value and would absolutely recommend a stay here!

The owner was very helpful to make sure we had what we needed before leaving. Very nice Costa Rica typical breakfast. Great location a couple blocks off the highway from the big stores/bus station. 4 or so blocks from the river park and bank. Los Chiles is also a pretty quiet town, which was nice. The river front park is new too and nice for our kids. We will definitely stay there again next time we are coming through the area.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel de Campo is located in Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve in Alajuela. Free WiFi access is available in this property in limited areas. The food was delicious. They put a lot of effort to source their food from their own gardens and have a small farm to provide this food for guests. The beds are comfortable and clean. There is a troupe of spider monkeys that visited every day because of all the fruit trees they have planted on the grounds and there is a lot of birdlife everywhere. Most of all we enjoyed our boat tour organised by the hotel. This took us down the caño negro river where we saw many caiman, Jabiru storks, turtles, and even a very rare striated heron.The hotel staff and owners are friendly and welcoming. No food in the evening, but a superb restaurant next door meant that that was no hardship.
