For western tourists wanting to experience Japanese hospitality with Western levels of comfort (unlike Ryokan where there's typically no beds or private bathrooms) this hotel is exactly what you need and it's the best experience we could've hoped for in Matsumoto The hotel feels very Japanese. It has bamboo flooring (you take off your shoes at the entrance) both in hallways and rooms, it features a lush onsen, there is freely available ramen, there's a comic corner, etc The rooms on the other hand feature western beds and private bathrooms and (although small) were larger than what we were used to in Tokyo. The hotel and rooms are very clean and feel recently renovated. Staff is very welcoming and goes the extra mile.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, EVER. Huge room especially by Japanese standards. Everything very modern and updated. Super friendly staff and beautiful views all around. Just downstairs in the building you will find both a mini mart and a pharmacy. So convenient for those last minute things you forgot to pack. Easy walk to the train station. We made the walk multiple time and it’s totally doable. Even with all luggage and middle of summer was not too bad. Would definitely stay again.

Central location and we learned how to use the city bus because of their location. Rooms are bigger than business hotels, loved the fact that the toilet is separate from the shower. Near a bus station that goes to chubu centrair, staff told us about it and it was the best way to get to the airport especially if you have heavy luggage. Staff also never forgot about my message to them asking them if they can send our luggage to the airport, they kept asking me from check-in until check-out. So thoughtful of them.

Front desk is superb. They have nicely folded origami to give out to little children - and my daughter was delighted! The rooms were nice and clean. We have two non-connected rooms, but as it was the peak travel season, we were glad we found a nice hotel like this one. Its location was also excellent. If you stay here, you must eat at the Prince Matsuba, Nakatsugawa - just opposite the hotel! During my entire stay in Chubu, this restaurant provides the best food at the most reasonable price and great servings.

Location was great for an overnight stay before catching the morning flight out of Chubu Centrair. It was also located near the Aeon Mall. The room was surprisingly quiet even though we stayed in front of the elevator as the room doors close quietly rather than with a bang like most other hotels. The drawback is that the walls are thin and I had the misfortune of having a noisy neighbor. The room was spacious although a little old.

Room facilities were good, tea and toiletries, you pick up at the lobby.

Somewhat older property but in a stunning location and well-maintained. One negative, - access to the onsen lacks elevators and requires climbing stairs. The onsen itself is again a little dated but the location and views of the beach more than makes up for this. Our room service was superb - everything one can wish for in a onsen-ryokan experience. There is a free shuttle service to the Shimoda train station.

Excellent stay, and the view of the bay from the room was amazing. Both meals were delicious, and we had them in a private room. Also, there were a few private baths. The service staff were amiable and helpful. It is worth a trip to this remote area of the Noto Peninsula.

The rustic cottage is in beautiful area and very clean and comfortable. The host and his wife were wonderful and so hospitable. They are some of the nicest people we have met on our trip! They even came to pick us up at the station and drove us to a late lunch after when they found out we had a long day and hadn’t eaten. We also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings! Had the most incredible stay at Satoyama Jujo. My wife and I were visiting Japan and in search of a nature retreat from Tokyo for a few nights, and this resort exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The room was quiet and serene, the baths had stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and the food was impeccable. The service was so thoughtful as well; on our last day we were snowed in and couldn't get back to Tokyo, but the hotel made sure we could extend our reservation one night and offered a complimentary taxi to the train station the next day. Hope to be back again one day!
