If you ever wanted to go to a storybook fairytale castle this is where you should stay. This fairytale castle came with a fairy godmother hostess named Karin. A 13th century mill sitting over the Seine tributary which is peaceful with only birds chirping and swans swimming on the river. We went rowing on the river for an unforgettable scenic experience. Breakfast is delicious and do not miss the dinners. Better than any Michelin restaurant. All this was magically and warmly offered by the owner hostess Karin. Thank you for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Hotel Normandy is located in the centre of Vernon, 4 km from Giverny and 2 km from Château de Bizy. Free WiFi access is provided. Warm welcome, room size, an already reserved parking (although we didn't need to use it thanks to availability at the public parking just besides the hotel). The hotel is situating exactly at the center, at very short walk distances to restaurants and the river side. We had aimed Vernon for a next day visit to Giverny, which is at around 5-10 min distance by car. We recommend arrival to Vernon not later than around 19:00 hrs if you want to benefit from nice restaurants nearby. We think that we stayed at the best hotel in Vernon, and we can sincerely recommend it to others.

We were very impressed by the welcoming and attentive staff at the Hotel-Restaurant Bel Ami. When we discovered that our allocated room was on the second floor, accessed by a steep and narrow staircase, we requested a room on a lower floor and were relocated to an excellent room on the first floor with views over the adjacent River Eure. We dined in the restaurant twice and enjoyed outstanding meals. The waiting staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The secure free parking was much appreciated.

We loved- 1. The view of the Seine from our room 2. Talking to Stephanie and Olivier and their young adult children who help them in the restaurant 3. Eating an amazing meal prepared by Chef Stephanie on the terrace. 4. The overall service and attention of the staff. 5. Very well run inn in an amazing historic structure. 6. The room was comfortable and had fun accents on the pillows of scenes from the Bayeaux Tapestry.

Breakfast was really excellent. The chateau was slightly faded country house, just as it should be. Beautiful architecture, gorgeous grounds, magnificent panoramic views across the Seine and its landscape.
