Set in Vitoria-Gasteiz, 23 km from Ecomuseo de la Sal, NIREA HOTEL features views of the city. Featuring a bar, the 2-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom.... Everything was perfect! The staff at the reception was super amicable and helpful. The hotel is perfectly located 2 min Walking from the train station and 5 mins from the old towns core.. But still very quiet in the night. A lot of restaurants around :) My room was superb, super comfortable bed and impeccable... I wish I could get the same standards in Germany/France where my company pays for 200euro expensive hotels (and German hotels always disappoint me).. The hotel is quite new, I think it opened a couple of months ago. You should definitely stay here!

Saiaritz offers air conditioned accommodation located in Amurrio in the Ayala Valley, 30 km away from Bilbao. Each room at this hotel comes with terrace, TV and a private bathroom. We chose Saiaritz to have a rural base close to Bilbao, with parking. It was a good plan but Saiaritz made it fantastic. The building is architect built, beautifully finished. Amurrio lies in a lovely green plain, surrounded by hills; in the middle of Spain’s heatwave we stayed cool. We could take the (air conditioned) train from Amurrio to Bilbao for a few euros, with no parking hassles. But by far the highlight of our stay at Saiaritz was the hilarious and warm family who run it, Eritzu (sorry I don’t know how to spell her name, but she will know I mean her) her brother Angel, parents, grandparents, children alll play a part in making you feel welcome. Highly recommended! Muchas gracias Saiaritz.

The stunning Hotel Marqués de Riscal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Elciego, is located in Elciego, in La Rioja’s Álava province. The room had a nice view on a small vineyard and the distant hills. Breakfast was delicious with eggs Benedict, fruit, cold cuts, cheese and croissants. The traditional restaurant was great for lunch. The wine tour was fascinating. The building of course is spectacular. Well worth the splurge.
