Featuring an outdoor swimming pool and views of sea, Solar de Santo André is a recently renovated guest house located in Ponta Delgada, 12 km from Pico do Carvao. I had the best time at Solar de Santo Andre. Eduarda is a great hostess and the whole team at Solar de Santo Andre is very accommodating, hospitable, helpful and friendly. The house has been painstakingly renovated and the old rooms from earlier times have been made incredibly beautiful. The rooms, which are open to the public, are reminiscent of how Ponta Delgada used to be and how people used to live there. The guest rooms are very modern and equipped with all the necessary details to make you want to spend time there. I had booked the studio and was absolutely satisfied. The rooms are nicely furnished, are cleaned daily and you have everything you need for your vacation. Breakfast is served in the kitchen with a large table where all guests can sit down. The breakfast offers everything your heart desires: different types of bread, a selection of cold meats and cheese, fruit, yoghurt, coffee or tea is served as well as a homemade juice that varies daily. All guests meet at breakfast and the room invites you to chat. The garden with pool is perfect for relaxing after an eventful day. I had a wonderful time at the Solar de Santo Andre and can only recommend anyone to stay there!

Set 12 km from Pico do Carvao, DMCharme offers air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony. With inner courtyard views, this accommodation features a patio. This is one of the most customer oriented hotels I've ever been to! The service, the stay and all little extras were just awesome! (Thanks again!) I certainly recomment this hotel! Also, it's conveniently located in the heart of the island.

Offering pool with a view and sea view, Thalassa Villas is situated in Ponta Delgada, less than 1 km from São Roque Beach and a 15-minute walk from Milicias Beach. Convenient location in São Roque, 20-30 min walk to Ponta Delgada downtown. Around 10 min walk to grocery store and some restaurants. Studio is quite small, but comfortable, very clean and well equipped. Kitchen is nice for preparing basic meals. The terrace is fantastic, overlooking the ocean and gets a lot of sun. Pool towels are great to take with you to hot springs.

Boasting a garden and a terrace, Quinta das Palmeiras is situated in Povoação. The owners were extremely welcoming and we really enjoyed our stay!

Located in Povoação and only 2.4 km from Morro Beach, Casa da Lomba do Cavaleiro provides accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Rodrigo is an amazing host. We truly felt welcomed. He has a gentle and warm presence. He prepared a wonderful surprise for us on arrival: he gave us the room with the astonishing sea view, with a lot of privacy, instead of the one originally booked. The house is wonderful, the bed very comfortable, the breakfast tasty, the backyard having a breathtaking view. This accommodation is a true gem.

Situated in Ribeira Grande and within 300 metres of Ponte dos Oito Arcos, Matriz Guest House has a garden, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi. I don't know where to start! Rossana kindly waited for us on our arrival (1.30 am!) and despite late hour showed and explained everything we might need, there were some local type of pastries on the arrival in our room. We stayed in the bigger room with ocean view (3 of us) and a room was perfect, its big so you don't feel like there is no space for a group of friends. Balcony with a view - great! Breakfast was good, everything you need for a day full of adventure. You could also use the microwave, dishes, fridge (amazing!) located in the breakfast room. Cinnamon liquor made by Matriz house (owners) is 11/10, we wish we had checked in baggage for flight to buy some big bottles. If you need, you can also do laundry in the house (for an extra pay), but that's also is great feature of staying. Very accommodating, we have felt very welcomed and it was just GREAT! I just don't have words to recommend it enough. Thank you so much for the amazing time, you were part of it.
