Only 1 km from the centre of Maribor, the Črni Baron Pension Black Baron is located in Malečnik, 20 metres from a bus stop. Cute little property, staff was excellent and so friendly. Room was recently renovated, and despite being under a freeway, it was still very quiet. Breakfast was huge and very good, and even as we departed the staff gave us bottles of water and apples to sustain us on our trip. Highly recommend.

Guest house Stara lipa Tašner - free parking & kitchenette is located 1.2 km from the Pohorje Ski Resort, and 4 km from the centre of Maribor. We thank the owners for the good conditions, sunny rooms, warmth and cleanliness. Each room includes a small balcony with a table and chairs. Ksenia helped us with all the little questions - such as orientation in the city, and basic markings on the map, and was always in touch. The reception includes a cosy place to relax or freelance. We easily got from the city center by bus, the stop is near to the hotel. There is a wonderful restaurant in the courtyard of the guesthouse, with its own history and delicious traditional food.Within walking distance there are shops, oriental cuisine and incredible scenery for walking. If you are looking for comfort and peace this is the place for you. Nearby are mountains, streams, a ski resort, beautiful landscape and the opportunity to stroll in the cozy neighborhoods of mountain dwellers. We recommend.

Situated in an idyllic village Jurij, Guest House Vračko is set just 1 km from the Austrian border. The rooms were very large, modern and absolutely spotless. The owners and staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The attached Restaurant is well worth the visit with great wines from just around the corner and the dishes go well beyond what one can expect on a country side stay. We were a bit worried about the windows facing the road, but they are isolating well and there was hardly any traffic. Wonderful green nature all around.

Gregor is an amazing host and chef. Very clean and comfy place. Not fancy, but has everything you need for a peaceful stay.

Featuring garden views, Guest House Hiša Denk provides accommodation with a garden, a terrace and a bar, around 12 km from Maribor Train Station. The room was simple and modern. The breakfast was fantastic! So so good with the options and best poached eggs we’ve ever had. Convenient to stay there if dining, which we did and it was superb, the food is amazing! The room itself was quite basic, no bottled water, our bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the aircon in the evening wasn’t switched on so the room got very hot - we opened the window but then the traffic noise from the road next wakes you up immediately! And some people speaking in the early hours (4am) outside the room kept waking us up so didn’t rest well unfortunately.

Location was superb, right in the centre of Maribor. Excellent value with ensuite bathroom and nice cosy feel. Loved the old world charm of the rooms and sense of history. The pub location was a bonus - great beers and Guinness on tap. These folks know really know how to run accommodation that offers value.
