The guest house is an old wooden building, authentically restored, with very well preserved details (floor, ceiling). The rooms are practically furnished, suitable for longer stays (up to several weeks). In our room, apart from the bedroom with a double and a single bed, there were two sofa beds in the living room. This makes it suitable for a larger family. As it turns out, one of Tartu's sister cities is Tampere in Finland. Tampere maja plays a central role in organizing bilateral relations and functions not only as a guest house but also as a cultural centre. For example, the property houses a gallery where works by Finnish and Estonian artists can be viewed, and related artworks can also be seen in the guest rooms and the dining room. Breakfast was delicious and hearty, offering both local and international dishes. The guest house is very close to the central square of the old town, but most attractions are within walking distance.

The property was great for two reasons - (1) the host was wonderful - caring, friendly and interactive and (2) the geo-location. The host has remained very supporting right from reaching in the mid-night to providing the breakfast as per the wish. He was quite interactive young chap always available and asking for any help/support though things were all in order.

The long distance bus from Tallin will drop you off close to.the nearby bridge so I didn't have to walk far. It is in a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was nice with no competition to use the stove with other guests. It also had a washing machine too. The room was spacious. I slept very well on the mattress. Shower gets nice and hot and towels were provided. You can communicate with staff using Google translator. Electric outlets were next to bed.
