There is a nice pool and relaxing area. We had a dinner also with this view. The rooms are pretty, all made us to feel good!! We had a small Kia Picanto rental car, very small one. Luckily it was not rainy season, so it was no problem to go up with this car, we had to drive slow and carefully and all was fine!!! The hotel is not far from Addo National Park, so before heading there we made a 2 hour driving from the northern entrance of the park and we saw many elephants and other animals.

Our guide, Lenny, was very experienced and we learned much about the many animals we saw - lion, cheetah, elephant, rhino, giraffe, many kinds of antelope, warthog, more! We did 6 3 -hour drives; suggest booking enough time to do at least 4-6.

What can I say .. the accommodation was great, lodge staff were wonderful - caring, professional and friendly and catered to our needs. I've stayed at other lodges in South Africa but this stay was more relaxed, it felt more like a family stay. We met some other guests we now keep in touch with. Our guide Roan was the best, passionate and very knowledgeble and able to answer all questions and find animals and plants we wanted to see. And of course the wildlife and fantastic setting of Amarkhala were the icing on the cake!

The food is superb and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. They went through the trouble of making a separate meal for my partner to accommodate his food allergies. They also went to the trouble of setting up a screen and provided us with snacks to watch the rugby. We also got to see 4 of the Big 5 in one evening!
