The location was planning perfect. Varenna is beautiful lake town with excellent views and a perfect jumping off point for the lake. Hermes was an amazing host and wonderful person. We loved our stay and will definitely come again.

Ideal location for visiting other towns on the lake, Bellagio, Menaggio & Tremenzenno all a short distance away. Ferries are frequent & very punctual. One hour train ride into Milan, not that frequent so check the times.

Don't miss Villa Monastero! Lovely gardens walking along the lakeside and tours inside were only offered on weekends. Check hours before going. A few restaurants within walking distance of the ferry. Bar Moto has spectacular views from the water.

Easy walk about town. Wear good walking shoes steps are steep and not always a handrail. Beautiful gardens and scenery. Easy hop on a ferry to go to the other towns. Hike up to the castle is 30 min. I would have felt more comfortable with a walking stick. Make sure to have water.Eva - 10Scored 10

Picturesque and just charming. Loved the waterfront, walking on the bridge, flowers, vibe and restaurants on the water. Ferry efficient and pleasant, easy to access other towns. When I was told that the swimming pool was closed and challenged this on the basis that we chose this hotel because it had a swimming pool they obliged and immediately cleaned all the tables and opened up - commendable. Food delicious - best tiramisu we have ever tasted! Lovely breakfast room with great views. Welcome gift on arrival of Prosecco and strawberries in our Suite and gift of water and mints on departure - lovely touches.

It's close to everything you need and want to see. The host Roberto is the best, he helped us from the train station and drove us to Varenna anytime we needed. He even took us to see the whole lake by boat. The experience was beautiful and writing this makes me want to book the next trip already. Lake Como, the villa and Roberto is worth visiting more than once
