To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys. However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good. Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. The staff we saw were nice and had no issue with us checking in later than expected. The room was very clean and had a lovely bed and bathroom, tv included and also free Wi-Fi which was great! Would definitely stay again.
