I didn't see anyone else while I was there and honestly I like that. Finding the place was easy, getting in was easy and while the bathroom and lavatory room were separate and shared it was all very clean and comfortable. I was even able to get some cutlery from the downstairs kitchen. Very spacious room with a sofa and well heated but the wardrobes were locked. Excellent value for money.
Along the north Cornwall coast, around 30 minutes’drive from Newquay and St Ives, Portreath Arms has a cosy bar and restaurant serving fresh home-cooked food.

Amazing food both in the evening and at breakfast.
The staff were such fun and so welcoming
The best place we have stayed at on our south west coast pathway this time
Attached pub did not have food available after 2.30pm.

The room was lacking of air conditioning and I had to open a big and wide window for air during the night. I was frightened in case of crawling insects or a fox can easily climb in as the room I stayed downstairs on the side of back garden with load of weeds and a trees that looks like a forest.

Unfortunately i cant rate the town of Redruth very high.this is due to how steep the main shopping street is. If you have mobility issues dont shop in Redruth. But once you manage to get to the top of the street there are buses that can take you on lovely journeys to places like Truro, Penzance and surrounding areas all for a fiver day ticket. Plus there is a train station if you fancy a train ride. If you have a car and want to save on fuel then use one of the many long term carparks for around Four pound for the day and use the buses

Stayed in St Day, which was the perfect location to explore wider Cornwall. I travelled out every day in all directions and the Road network was easy to navigate to get me around. There were plenty of options for having a great evening meal within a 5 mile radius of St Day. I enjoyed my stay here so much that I am planning on a return visit. Had a great nights sleep every night because it was lovely and quiet.

this hotel was outside the town of Redruth, in the country so not affected by Redruth itself and lots of nice places to visit nearby , Redruth itself is a sad and neglected little town, very few thriving businesses, lots of empty shops and too many charity shops. There seemed to be nowhere where food is served all day (we needed to eat late afternoon as we had to be at a venue by 6.30pm),one street (West End!) looked as if it was ripe for demolition. Lots of potential with its tin mining history, two very good pieces of artwork and also some interesting and historic buildings that could be renovated in to something rather special but left in a dreadful state of repair. A bit of levelling up and real investment could make it a very pleasant little town

Perfect little Shepherds hut in a central location, ideal for exploring Cornwall!
Spotlessly clean, lovely little touches on arrival, wine, milk, even homemade flapjack.
Highly recommend a stay here, can’t fault it!
The rooms are simply great. The person that arrange the hotel had a great taste and feeling for what is nice and cosy. The kitchen is full blown and very good equipped. We basically cooked there our dinner. All for a great breakfast is around, only get some ground coffee if you prefer to use the french press over the UK standard instant coffee.
And if you need any tips what to do, ask any of the staff. The two ladies are pretty awesome and thanks to them we visited several sites in Cornwall we would have sure missed (thanks again to Nik!).
Lovely private and cosy chalet. Perfect size for two.
Well equipped kitchen and towels provided. Close to some lovely walks and Redruth town.
Very private, own entrance and fenced off area meant we could have door/windows open no worries.
On arrival having tea/coffee and milk was lovely!
Complete black out curtains/blinds.
Internet and smart tv
Well lit bathroom, big LED light up mirror and big-ish shower with heated towel rack!
Location was good for our needs, the hotel itself is old and 1970 decor. The cooked breakfast was waitress order and some items arrived cold. I can’t understand how you can mess up beans on toast . The bathroom in the room had poor ventilation and mold on the tiles . The pub next door which is separate to the hotel was very good with a good vibe as and friendly staff. I would go to the pub again but won’t be staying in the hotel.
really beautiful, clean and quiet area within redruth. large room with stunning interia. we stayed in the Owl Room and then way the couple had desighned the room with the theme of Owls was a really nice feature. other people staying at the facility were quiet and respectful and it was honestly somewhere i would stay again if i travel down here again
The breakfast was great. The room was large and we unexpectedly received a room upgrade (bonus). Even though we passed on daily room cleaning, we were left a basket with fresh towels, bottles of water and snacks each day. There was ample parking directly in front of the hotel. The bar was nice and staff wee extremely helpful and accommodating.
We had a very difficult journey to Cornwall and ended up at our hotel 6 hours later than we expected.
Leila text such good care of Us make sure we had food in our room and that we were comfortable.
Breakfast the next morning was astonishing as was all the food at the restaurant which is truly top-notch.
We've booked a return trip already.
Beautiful house and garden, hearty breakfast.
Great location, within short driving distance from every point of interest in western Cornwall.
The town itself, St.Day, is quite pretty. It was nice to have dinner and a short walk in the evening.
We took our 2 dogs along with us, and the hotel couldn't do enough for us all. The dogs had beds and goodie bags set up in the room for them along with a little letter, and the bed for me and the wife was massive 😊
Beautiful quiet location, central Cornwall with an easy drive to either coast through stunning countryside. The sunrise and sunset when viewed from the top field are awesome. Will be returning again.
Hotel was very clean and presentable. We stayed there as a base to go to St. Ives and Penzance but if you're there for Redruth it's a great location as it's right next to the town and train station.
I stayed at the penventon hotel 30 years ago. Then decided to stay this week. Fantastic location excellent menu and very comfortable rooms. Staff were always willing to help.
3rd stay in this hotel and probably not the last.
I have nothing to change to my comments of end of November and of end of December. Breakfast is always a delicious moment.
We were made welcome from the start, the hotel was spotlessly clean and breakfast was superb, I would stay again and recommend it, central location to explore the county
