This visit (my second to Amiens) Day 1 started at the Saturday canal-side market, lots of stalls with seasonal vegetables, fruit and herbs grown in the Hortonillage and the Somme region. Then I dipped into some shops - including an inspiring visit to the ground floor of the big Monoprix where clever lighting makes quite ordinary day to day food look irresistible, some of the many new and secondhand bookshops, a huge ironmongers and an over-the-top patisserie. In the afternoon, to Jules Verne's house: a wonderfully, eccentric building; full of marvellous furniture and objects, very well curated. I spent the whole of Day 2 (7 am - 4 pm at the extraordinary - huge - Spring Braderie. I found that my visit to the Jules Verne house, and its thoughtful interpretation made the market especially enjoyable. Many of the stalls had examples of the things I had found so interesting in the house - for instance archeological finds, including flint axes, found around Amiens; corals and shells; endless examples of oil lamps (some working, other 'do-er' uppers). Many stalls had very good pieces of ceramic from different periods and cultures. Lots of the stall holders were up for a good bit of haggling. Then a glass of beer in the sun-shine ,sitting on the street outside a cafe, buzzing with laughing locals and visitors.
Amiens is a very walkable city, its buildings are fabulous. It's lively and very clean.

Lovely old town centre and especially the cathedral.
Lovely old town centre and especially the cathedral. Well worth a look around. Nice cafes. Parking was initially a problem as large town centre car park ticket machines did not work. We got a side street machine which worked fine.

Amiens is a small city, and perfect for walking.
Amiens is a small city, and perfect for walking. The cathedral in particular, is spectacular, but it's not the only place of interest in, or around, the town. St Leu, and Les Hortillonnages, plus Le Jardin des Plantes, are well worth visiting and, of course, many of the WW1 sites are within very easy reach, by car.

The old town around the canals was the most interesting...
The old town around the canals was the most interesting along with the cathedral in the central square near to the Tourist Office.
Some lovely waterfront cafes. Free bus transport on Saturdays on a simple, easy to understand network.
Hotel was in an excellent position by the Cathedral. Hotel was modern and very well maintained. Room was large and fully equipped with a great shower area. There was even a small sofa by the window...just lovely for relaxing looking over towards the front of the Cathedral. Closeby to nice park. Also dog friendly with lots of areas to take your pet for a walk etc. Amiens is a great city for a short break or as a base for exploring the Somme area. No onsite parking but public car park very close by and reasonably priced.
The staff made this stay amazing. We arrived just before the reception desk closed and struggled to find the underground parking so parked on the street outside and checked in. The staff member was so helpful and kind, sorting us with the parking code (entrance is through a gate just up from the hotel), changed our room to give us a quieter time and a better view, and helped us with directions to town.
The room was cosy and quiet with a large bathroom. Clean and neat. Perfect for a night or two in Amiens.
The location was perfect and the view from the window was great. The host made sure I had gluten free breakfast while I was there, but our train left too early and breakfast hadn’t started, so she made me a whole takeaway bag of breakfast and gave it to me at 5/6am. It was absolutely not necessary and unexpected, she really went out of her way to do this, and I am very very thankful! She was so amazing. We will definitely stay here again. Everyone should if they are visiting Amiens!
Although it is a chain hotel, it didn't feel completely like one. Rooms and halls have a pseudo-loft/warehouse feel with exposed piping, bare concrete walls, etc. It wasn't ugly or tacky, and was well done. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of options including fresh juice. Wifi very good, bathroom nice, and hotel is centrally located. Was able to park on the streets with a bit of luck (much cheaper than parking in hotel garage since overnight street parking is free).
Perfectly comfortable stay, without any luxury. The room has the basics, nothing more. I found bed to be very comfortable, even more so than much more upscale properties elsewhere. Breakfast has very tasty croissants. The internet was reasonably fast and easy to connect to. The location is ideal for people commuting in and out of Amiens with their own vehicle who don't mind driving/parking downtown for the city's own attractions. Great price.
It is a good central location for bars, restaurants etc. The appartment was clean and well equipped with some thoughtful touches and basic provisions provided. We hired some bikes (www.velam.amiens.fr/) to cycle around the city and along the river (en.francevelotourisme.com/cycle-route/somme-valley-cycle-route) - they only cost 1 euro a day!
Everything was perfect 🥰 the host was so welcoming polite and friendly, she made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless, beautifully decorated, comfy bed and had everything we needed. Breakfast was the best we had in France. Would definitely go back.
Everything was wonderful! It was a cozy apartment in a great location!! It was wonderful communicating with the owner, and he made it very easy for us. We look forward to visiting Amiens again, and hope we can stay at La WAIDE again !!when we come back❤️
This hotel is not fancy but clean and basic and surprisingly quiet at night. Our room didn’t face into the Main Street or the train station and was very quiet at night. Facilities a little aged but clean. Staff were extremely helpful and breakfast good.
Great location in the centre of Amiens and the parking on site was ideal for us. The hotel was very good value, comfortable bed, really powerful shower and plenty of choice at breakfast.
Incredibly friendly staff...spacious, clean, comfortable room...hotel located near rental car agencies & train station...I have come to really like the Ibis chain...great price!
This hotel is well located in a very calm part of Amiens. Moreover the rooms are modern and very clean. We would certainly like to stay here again if we return to Amiens.
I love this hotel! The location and the views are amazing. The hotel staff is very friendly and easy going. I really recommend this to anyone traveling to Amiens!
Good breakfast; location not that great so I did not get to see anything of Amiens. OK for a one night stop over. More motel than hotel but the price was fine.
The amazing Armien Gothic cathedral, five minutes walk away, surely one of best in France, the canals, bridges, graffiti and host Sylvie, who was fabulous also.
