Spread around a wide bay and rocky promontory, A Coruña has an important Galicia port where many cruise ships stop. Overlooking the bay is Torre de Hercules, a lighthouse used continually since Roman times.
A lengthy coastal promenade passes nearby Aquarium Finisterrae, where some pools are linked to the ocean. Further along are the curving sands of Playa de Orzán and Playa Riazor, whose offshore conditions are ideal for windsurfing, while to the east is smaller San Amaro beach.
At the heart of A Coruña (also called La Coruña and Corunna) is elegant Maria Pita Square, named after a local woman who heroically fought the English Armada. Monuments of other famous figures include houses of Emilia Pardo Bazan and Picasso, and the Luis Seoane Museum, found among the old town streets with their typical enclosed balconies.
The city also has an archaeology museum, set in 16th-century San Antón Castle on a rocky outcrop overlooking the water. Much more modern is the Millennium Obelisk, whose location offers views back towards the beachfront bars where the best nightlife is found. Quieter pavement restaurants surround parks such as landscaped Mendez Nunez Gardens with its fountain and bandstand.

It is a beautiful city, small but with many things to do.
It is a beautiful city, small but with many things to do. You can stroll and get lost in its streets and always find a nice place to have a coffee or any snack. Food is amazing, you will enjoy delicious food in any place you decide to eat in. If you are lucky and have nice weather you can visit the local beach or travel to the country side where you will find beautiful and pristine beaches. I really recommend to visit A Coruña, specially during the summer you won't regret.

A Coruna is a beautiful city.
A Coruna is a beautiful city. Probably the best activity is walking. The coastline runs round the whole city, except for a narrow land bridge to the mainland, and all of it is designed with pedestrians, runners, cyclists in mind. There are two wonderful natural parkland areas at either end of the main bay. In terms of other things to see and do, the Tower of Hercules light house is a must, but there are plenty of other things to see in that area, such as an interesting modern 'Stonehenge' type monument and other art installations in the same area as well as a breathtaking cliff top walk. Other attractions include the aquarium - make sure you find the nautilus room - not too well sign posted, but worth finding to be totally surrounded by fish and small sharks. Picasso's house is interesting (and free) as is the Military museum and the Museum of fine art - both free. And Castelo de Santo Anton is well worth a visit. Just enjoy strolling around the Calle Real and Maria Pita square - with plenty of cafes and bars to stop for a beer or coffee. If you aren't used to the culture, most of the bars/cafes will give you a small taste of cake with your tea/coffee or a small savoury tapas with your beer/wine, so you can snack your way around the town for many happy hours! A Coruna is a city that truly captures the essence of Spanish charm and gastronomy. The cuisine here is nothing short of spectacular, especially the roasted octopus paired with sweet potato puree - a delightful fusion of flavors. Pair it with the local wine and tapas, and you're in for an authentic Spanish culinary journey. The city itself is impeccably clean, beckoning visitors to take leisurely strolls along its pristine beaches. I was fortunate enough to experience an unusually warm spell, with temperatures soaring above 25°C, which, as I've been told, is a rare treat. The inhabitants of A Coruna radiate warmth and courtesy, making one yearn for a return visit the following year. And when it comes to value, A Coruna's prices are significantly lower than cities like Madrid, Malaga, or Barcelona, yet its culinary quality surpasses any city I've visited in Spain. Culinary tourism is undoubtedly the forte of the entire Galician region, and A Coruna proudly stands as a testament to this tradition.

Autumn is a lovely time to visit as the crowds are low and the highways are less busy. Loved touring through the countryside. The beaches, port, lighthouse etc were lovely. The large square was amazing and lots of restaurants and tapas bars around the old town. A long way to the coach and train station but very cheap to get to Santiago de Compostella for the day. We would have liked to spend more time exploring the wild coast around A Coruna but ran out of time. The highlight of our visit was the Aquarium. Apart from the main gallery three sets of stairs/elevator lead down to a chamber furnished with settees where you could relax , listen to music and watch numerous fish including a shark swim. Outside an old fish farm had been converted into a place for seals etc. Juddi a guide was informative and helpful.HazelUnited Kingdom

This is a delightful, small, family run hotel, It is exceptionally clean and comfortable and the staff are very pleasant. It is in a great situation for exploring the city, with a lot to see within reasonable walking distance and there is a taxi rank just around the corner. There is a also a small bar/restaraunt downstairs with plenty of choice at decent prices. I doubt I could have chosen better and if I return to La Coruna, this is where I will be staying!

Underground parking was a bless over weekend, as finding a space nearby is a mission impossible for A Coruna first-timer :) Loved the breakfast area decor - plenty of small nice touches making it really pleasant environment to grab a coffee and work on your laptop.
