Charming historic village centre, largely vehicle-free, with an unique collection of preserved stone buildings with characterful wooden balconies. Set in a wooded valley with ready access to excellent trekking and biking trails. Well placed for exploring the Troodos mountains, including the UNESCO listed frescoed churches.

Charming village for a cool night in the hot summer with the sound of flowing water from the river. Very easy to walk around. Parking can be an issue on busy summer weekends. Good food at reasonable prices at the village pub and restaurant

Kakopetria is a mountain village, so everything is within walking distance. However, there's a lot of uphills and downhills - prepare to get tired if you're walking around in order to explore it. On the other hand, it's amazing for hikers, with easy and difficult trails starting from a lot of points in the village. And of course, Kakopetria is located in the middle of the Troodos forest, so it is ... dressed in green, with amazing views and brooks running everywhere in the village! Finally, there is public parking for daily visitors, although it seems pretty limited for the number of people present at any time, and the locals seem to park everywhere!

One of the best traditional villages in Cyprus that I highly recommend to spend a couple of nights should you want to relax.
I highly recommend to stay at Ekali hotel due to its superb location.
An activity I highly suggest is to hike from Ekali hotel up to Old Kakopetria and check out that place. And shall you be able to go for longer distances try and walk up to the next village "Galata" which is clustered with Byzantine churches along the designated route or just follow the main road. Your way back from Galata to Kakopetria is gonna be more challenging as it will be an uphill but it is worth the experience.
Two of my favourite restaurants are Zoppos and Podji Poda. Zoppos is kinda more expensive nowadays but Podji Poda is a cheap place with humongous quantities and it is a great value for your money but as you would expect from such a place there almost certain you will be waiting at the line to have a sit and enjoy your meals.
There are many ATMs and pharmacy stores in case you have forgotten to withdraw money.
Something I would avoid is to forget my sunscreen as the sunlight UVs in Cyprus is very intense and sunscreen is a must have even in mountainous regions.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit.
Absolutely beautiful place to visit. Plenty of places to visit close by. Stunning views and fresh air make you feel revived. Great place to relax. Food was really good and value for money. Trout exceptional! Very traditional with some very interesting buildings. The ducks walk around unconcerned about humans and the cockerel is a character for sure. 100% recommend especially for couples or adult groups. Great for walking enthusiasts.
My stay at this cute boutique hotel was amazing! The staff were super friendly and always ready to help. The room had a cozy vibe with a big comfy bed and lots of pillows, plus a cool bathtub with bubble bombs. They even gave me free wine to enjoy on a custom table by the tub. The place had a simple and cozy style that I loved. Dinner was delicious, especially the salads and steak. Finally, the hotel is in a nice village which has plenty to do for a fun, rejuvenating retreat!
Great location in the old centre of cute Kakopetria.
Old cute house, cozy mountain feeling, very comfortable and cute room, nice terraces, silent. Very warm room. Room had fridge, plates/cutlery/glasses, water kettle.
Entrance in the house was like in a cozy living room, with local TV on and tavla next to big sofas.
Rich breakfast on the terrace, Maritsa prepared Cypriot coffee for us.
Everything here. We had a great time in Kakopetria which is the best place in Cyprs. Thank you so much for the hospitality of Demetri and his father Timothy. It really exceed my expectation. And the value we get is much more than we paid and it is uncountable.
The panorama is excellent. Fully equipped. Clean and comfortable. Strongly recommend for family.
The owner stayed up far past the regular check-in to make sure we got in to the hotel and were looked after - the hotel itself is charming, in the heart of old kakopetria. Thick walls and timbered ceilings ensure the rooms stay cool in the heat. The breakfast is typical Cypriot fare, with excellent coffee and cold selection.
We saw this hotel on a previous visit and thought it would be a lovely place to stay as its in the centre of the old village and the old world ambiance is very striking. The restaurant is very good and the staff are all very nice , but looks can be deceptive,,,
The balcony looked over the river and tall trees, the loudest sound was flowing water.
The room was comfortable.
The bath jacuzzi worked well.
Very hot water
Comfortable beds
Old town was a few minutes walk
Nature path starts at hotel
Tasty breakfast
A warm, cozy place in the center of old Kakopetria, with jacuzzi and traditional bed. Very welcoming hosts, ready to help with anything needed. During Christmas period was an amazing escape. Close to the nature trails of Kakopetria.
Older built hotel but well maintained. Extremely clean, a few meters from the center of the village but quite. Very nice hosts (Maria & Christakis). Very good value for money
Thymises Boutique Hotel exceeded our expectations. Its charm, impeccable service, and attention to detail make it a top choice for anyone looking for a memorable stay.
Amazing location, in the heart of old Kakopetria. Traditional rooms that takes you back in time.
Polite and helpful staff.
Highly recommend for a peaceful eacape
There were some good things about the hotel (it was clean and the location is beautiful) but the whole experience was so bad that I won't expand on this.
