Mrs Matos was the perfect host; looking after us and even giving us a brief history of the village and castle. The evening was peaceful and a joy to sit outside and hear peace and quiet. Fantastic. The castle, less that 5 minutes walk further up the road is a step into history. High, highly recommended.

A very cute stone cottage 10 minutes walk from the superb castle and the old town, and right on a hiking trail (2:15 minutes loop). Breakfast is more than plentiful (fridge is full of cheeses, hams, yogurts), our host even provided eggs for us. We didn't meet Ana, but access to the property was very easy, parking nearby by the ATM cash machine. Excellent meals -if you like lamb, go for the ensopado, the best I had in Portugal so far!-,at the restaurant next door.
