Absolutely loved the character and charm of the hotel, the facilities, the lounge area for breakfast/evening drinks, ease of use of the washer/dryer that was there. The hotel was in a quiet residential section of Kyoto, yet access to Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and downtown Kyoto was very easy and within a 15 minute walk. Access to the train stations and Uber/Taxi's were equally easy. Amazing local restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel - highly recommend Daigan around the corner for an amazing sushi with an engaging/entertaining/welcoming chef.

This was a very traditional style Japanese house and we loved it. We had plenty of space for 6 of us, and the location was quiet. Plenty of small marts nearby, and a delicious noodle restaurant down the street. The room offered a waher/dryer, which was great. We were able to drop off our luggage early, while we explored Kyoto before check-in.

Convenient to everything you want or could need. James, the owner, goes above and beyond to help you enjoy your stay at the house and time in kyoto. His guidebook on what buses to take to attractions was incredibly helpful, and the wall map to show what attraction is in which direction. The 3 bedrooms upstairs allowed our family of 5 to have space, and the upstairs and downstairs toilet was very helpful. The house is located from the west exit at kyoto station, near JR office and trains.

Location is perfect for going to different places in Kyoto. The property is well maintained and perfect for a family of 3-4.

BenTen Residences offer a Japanese machiya accommodation in the heart of Higashiyama, Kyoto. Yasaka Shrine is 7 minutes on foot, while Kiyomizu Temple is a 14-minute stroll. We really liked how it was a very convenient and accessible location. Beautiful house too! We also like how the staff are very warm, welcoming and courteous!

Excellent value for money. Remarkable got baths, midi garden / plants. Lots of room, comfortable bed. Good location.
