At the junction of three provinces, this KwaZulu-Natal town is a natural destination and departure point for travelers on the busy route between Durban and Johannesburg although the major road now the N3 highway, no longer passes through here, the settlement was originally established at a fork in the road, one route going to what is now the Free State and the other to what is now Gauteng.
Newcastle is a sunny and warm place and is significant as an excellent stopover on the Battlefield Route which works its way around the midlands in KwaZulu-Natal. The route is a comprehensive guide to battles and events that have characterised this part of the country. Deeply involved in the Anglo-Boer War, Newcaslte has a number of battlefield sites including Laings Nek, Majuba and Schuinshoogte.

The hostess is a nightmare.
The hostess is a nightmare. She first accuse me of tearing her curtain ofwhich she had not put a stopper. Then she said I had to many people. I booke for 4 the 4 th person was a baby. She said I should have said so. Child under 2. She said I burned a paper on a cupboard with an iron. We never used an iron after finding out there’s no ironing board. Then we stole her body lotion. She only stopped insulting me when I told her I’ll make booking.com aware

The city is clean and the people friendly.
The city is clean and the people friendly. The roads are well kept without a lot of potholes. Someone recommended fish and chips from Porto and we were not disappointed. Although we didn't visit any places of interest there was visible signage of places to visit. It was my first time visiting Newcastle and I liked it a lot. I will be visiting it soon and would recommend it to friends and family.

We went to Amajuba Mall and what most was intresting is the mountains and the beautfull big homestead build on top of the mountain just behind Zamambongi lodge,
Pedros and Mcdonalds at Amajuba Mall
Yes it is and beautful nature
l will really avoid to drive in Amajuba road as the road wasn't good with me , rather take a long drive but in a decent road as the Amajuba road was too much zikzak and scary.
We also visited at Esigodi next to Khazins and we really enjoy the meal and it was so fun and nice.
.Worst place, paid by card and got debited, only to find my calls are are not going through for 2 hrs whilst i waited at the gate then eventually when "Owner" decides to answer his phone amd and opens the gate🤔🤔his drunk and refuses to refund money paid because we refuse to sleep there given for 2 hours we waited at thw gate and had made other arrangements for accommodation...
The rooms were comfortable and aircon worked well especially as it was a freezing night in Newcastle. The room was clean and had very comfortable bedding. The staff were friendly and tried by all means to cover all bases given that they were obviously overworked.
The venue really has good amenities that one can enjoy if they had more time to spend onsite.
During my recent stay, I found the overall experience to be quite pleasant. The hotel room was well-appointed, clean, and offered a cozy ambiance. However, there was one aspect that left me wishing for more comfort, particularly during the chilly winter nights – the availability of extra blankets.
Ensure that bathroom mats are placed just outside the shower so that no one slips and injure themselves. The connection to the wifi is great. I booked into Grey Goose Game Lodge for 2 nights stay - due to my work I travel a lot. Will definitely be returning every time I am working in Newcastle.
The host Mahommed takes good care of his clients,he's so friendly and kind,he treats people like family.Nice rooms, nice breakfast too.Lungi at the kitchen knows her story,l enjoyed the omelette, she's friendly too .
I will definitely use this place whenever lm in Newcastle.
It's my second time spending time in the B&B,I loved everything, the location, peaceful area, close to shops, safe and quiet, I will still book the place should I need 1 in Newcastle
I would recommend it to anyone visiting Newcastle
I loved the warmth, cozy and comfortableness of the room with private bathroom and entertainment ie (there is wifi, tv). I received a hotel retreat at Meyiwa's Guest Palace. And the breakfast was fresh and yummy.
The owner was friendly and as much as it was a late booking. Very welcoming, a place I would definitely go back to one day when I return to Newcastle. The natural feeling inside the house was just extraordinary..
The location was is very central. It had very close proximity to Malls, Food stores, this made a huge difference and things were easy to reach. You really need all these especially if you are away from home.
Outstanding accommodation and hosts.
We were kept updated even before check-in.
We ended up securing another night as it was so perfect we didn't want to leave.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful hotel , a great place to relax and unwind. The room is kept spotless and staff after very friendly. The receptionist was very helpful with anything we need.
Location is good and convenient - closer to central town and Newcastle Mall where I had work meetings. Iron & ironing board in the room. Wi-Fi works very well.
