I like the ancient decor of the rooms. The bed was super confortable. The yogurt and muesli was very nice too. The little area is quiet and safe. The garden is so cute and Bella the cat is very endearing.

Safe parking outside the house on the pavement, It has an exceptionally beautiful garden. It was fascinating to be in a large period home, with period furniture. Very quiet at night. We had access to the kitchen to make coffee/tea. The rooms with a double bed were very spacious compared to the room with twin beds, There were sitting rooms at the guests' disposal.

A beautiful town with so much to explore.
A beautiful town with so much to explore. For tourists s longer stay is advisable to see everything this lovely place has to offer. But it also offers perfect overnight stops when passing through. We recommend Barrydale Karoo Lodge. With an in-house pub and restaurant, you need nothing more.

Barrydale is a small town with a lot of potential. Wonderful artistic shops and drop in eateries. Amazing 2nd hand bookshop - new books also available - I couldn't leave!! Close to Warmwaterberg - a must for a visit, not far from Swellendam and Witsand - beautiful beach. Lovely walks in the hills around the village.

It is lovely, safe and quiet.
It is lovely, safe and quiet. Most of the restaurants close at 5pm, so don't expect to eat out at a nice restaurant. Fortunately the guest house we were staying at was spacious and comfortable, and so we made a plan to buy our own food and eat in. But seriously, going out to eat should be an option.

One of the highlights was the sense of peace and tranquillity we felt in this authentic ‘dorp’. The solitude of the town provided a serene backdrop, making our stay truly magical.
Exploring the town and its surroundings was a delightful adventure. Quaint local shops, friendly faces, and the simplicity of life in the Karoo made our stay truly authentic. My list of mandatory places to visit would be Diesel and Crème for their out-of-this-world milkshakes, The House of Books (a paradise for any bibliophile), The Karoo Art Hotel for coffee or a gin and the gorgeous décor and coffee shop ‘Die Langhuis’
This gem on the border of the Karoo has the potential to become an even more coveted destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in this unique South African landscape.
In summary, our time in this small town was a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of big city life.
This self-catering apartment exceeded our expectations and we really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very cosy and homely and has a very nice bed.
All furnishings and comforts are in the cottage and if you so wish, you can prepare and enjoy your own meal inside the cabin, or outside on the barbeque.
Bathroom is clean and modern.
Location is very good - close to the town of Barrydale and its restaurants, but yet it is located on a peaceful farm bordering the town with a real country atmosphere.
The owner is very friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend Cottage 39 for anyone travelling to Barrydale. Excellent facility, with everything you need and some more. Our host Terry was very friendly and helpful and was able to answer all questions and make some excellent recommendation for restaurants and activities in and around town. Thank you again Terry.

Birdsong was our favorite accomodation during our South Africa trip. A comfortable and spacious cottage with all the comforts of home makes Birdsong a perfect place from which to explore Barrydale. The host was wonderful...ensuring we were happy at Birdsong and providing lots of great ideas for enjoying Barrydale.
We were greeted with warmth and care. Communication before we got there was prompt and helpful. Comfortable bed and amenities were all we needed for a one night - a bonus to have a swimming pool. Lovely restaurants just walking distance. A great place to explore Barrydale.
Such a fun, eclectic spot. Full of antiques. We loved it. Conveniently located beside the Diesel and Crème Restaurant, open for Breakfast and Lunch. Their Chia Latte was the best we have ever had. They recommended the Mez Karoo Kitchen for dinner…it was excellent as well.
The peace and tranquility of the location on a fruit farm. We loved the walks through the orchards.
Close proximity to town and restaurants. Our host Yvonne was really wonderful and very helpful with local knowledge. The cottage was amazing and well equipped.
Beautifully decorated home and garden. Our host, Uwe, was so friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and information about Barrydale. We loved the homemade bread offered for breakfast. This is truly a classy place in Rural South Africa.
A very comfortable place, which was perfectly clean and nicely decorated. We immediately felt at home. After a good night sleep we had the breakfast at the owners coffee place in a great setting. Recommended when you pass through Barrydale.
Good breakfast, lovely, interesting host and beautiful old part of Barrydale! Great pool and good shower. Comfortable bed - altogether fun and thanks for the delicious dinner booking at great restaurant. Meg's Kitchen
Loved the new refurb - tastefully done, with great art and I loved the big, bold use of wallpaper in the hotel. A big step-up from the hotel's previous incarnation. Our room was impressively big with a huge bathroom.
Everything was picture perfect!
Fantastic place for taking your small dog to! She had the sweetest farmdog friends.
Lots of beautiful walking opportunities on the farm
Close to Barrydale.
Room very adequate and lighting far better than most hotels. Bathroom good. Dinner good value at the price for basic cuisine. Charming young new waitress. Breakfast very goood value.
the owner is just amazing, what a lovely lady, stunning house, great location, she even booked us in at a great restaurant so that was a great service.
