Didn't like much of anything, other than easy access to interstate, BUT as it turned out, it was too close to highway and QUITE NOISY.

Tru always hits it out of the park. GREAT STAFF, every single one is friendly and will chat with you. They don't just sit behind the counter. They love to recommend places to explore in their town! Thank you Annette for the recommendation for Kathy's for breakfast. (We slept too late to eat in the lobby) Their lobby is a gathering place instead of a pass though. Rooms are spotless, breakfast is plentiful and a nice variety.

Stanton has a real down town. Not just for visitors but also for its residents to shop, dine and enjoy. So the merchants offer more than mementos and gift items. PLUS it has the only replica of Shakespeare's Black Friars Theathe at the American Shakespeare Center. That alone Stanton put its mark on the planet.

Did not give us the room we booked because they did not state that they had specific pet friendly rooms nor did they have us down as having a pet though i stated it in the reservation. Room was dusty and bathroom floor dirty. AC/heat unit noisy. And be warned there are freight train tracks about 20yards off the back od the hotel, so we had 2 trains go by during the early morning hours, 1:30am and around 3am that provided about 5 minutes of rumbling and shaking each. Not a recommended hotel for tired travelers

There are so many cute and wonderful stores. Could use more restaurants but plenty of coffee shops. Several museums and theatres (movies and live acting). I am especially interested in going back to the Shakespeare Theatre, and President Wilson's home/library.

We wanted a weekend getaway with history, and small-town 'Hallmark' charm. Staunton was perfect in every way. Easily walkable, beautiful downtown area, rich in history & haunted tales, with many unique small businesses to support & explore. We visited 2 great parks, & ate at The Clocktower Restaurant, and ventured to numerous breweries and wine tasting rooms. Our only complaint was that there are not many restaurants that are open past 9 pm, so any kind of "nightlife," bar, or later dinner is not an option.
A beautiful, majestic, one-of-a-kind hotel with a fascinating history. We booked last minute before rolling into town and initially thought we must’ve pulled into the wrong place. We were planning to stay in Staunton for a night only but ended up extending our stay. The property is an attraction in itself, and you can easily spend a couple of hours exploring it (which we did). The rooms are beautifully fitted, comfortable, and full of character. The staff were all lovely and helpful without exception. We hope to be back one day.
Always clean and welcoming on my way to and from South Carolina. Great hilltop setting overlooking mountains and farm pastures dotted with cattle grazing. Beautiful Staunton, is a very quick hop with every amenity and some lovely parks. Property working steadily all the time to improve their and update their rooms. You won't regret giving them a try. In room coffee and continental breakfast which many hotels are still not doing. A+++ keep up good work !
The hotel was easily accessible from the interstate. It was fun to walk in and find a Big Foot Convention taking place. We bought a couple t-shirts for family. The golf course made the hotel seem more resort like. The staff were pleasant. The hotel isn’t far from downtown Staunton, which is great to walk around with various eateries and shops.
The rooms are huge. It is the second time we’re staying at a red roof inn, and both times we have had an amazing amount of space in a comfortable room. Nice outdoor area where people had barbecues. It felt more homey than most hotels.
Staff/owner was very nice and helpful, even got up early to cook us breakfast to meet our schedule. Cool old house, full of interesting Thai decorations and antique furniture. Good location for exploring downtown Staunton
The hotel is on a main road so it is easy to find but there is no noise from the road once you are in the hotel. Ample parking. Friendly staff. A good hotel to stay at while visiting the area. I would stay again.
It’s a 3 years old hotel and really nice l, clean and functional, Free parking, free breakfast and coffee 24/7 has an exercise room and a pool 10 minutes drive to Historic Downtown Staunton.
Room was decent enough and what I expected from this kind of hotel/motel. Bed was comfortable and there was an extra table that was nice to use for eating.
