Very expensive stay $250 per night total.
There were dimly lit hallways, lights may have been put.
Hotel was under construction. Only a small part was available with rooms. Had I know. I won’t have gotten a room.
There was no breakfast per se. someone left a bag at the door with an apple and muffin.
The door man/ receptionist told me he had no access to iron boards or irons. I had to wait until he got off shift to find someone to get it for me.

We had a lovely stay at Marshall Slocum. It was convenient to everything which made it the perfect “home base” for all our little adventures this weekend. We were able to walk nearly everywhere. The room was lovely and quiet, as was the house. We really only heard other guests in the morning as they left their rooms. Everything was very clean and all of the basics were covered. It’s a small thing, but the coffee brewing at 6:30 was lovely. We could smell it in our room, even on the third floor, which was a lovely way to wake up. Jackson and Dana were both so helpful and accommodating with both our late arrival and early departure.

The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips.
The trolly tour was fantastic and Rob gave us several tips. Enjoyed visiting the Breaker Mansion, the cliff walk, Easton Beach. Celebrated our Anniversary dinner at the White Horse Tavern and had an amazing meal! Lots of shops and food places on Thames St near where we stayed at the Harborside Inn. Some places are hard to park so better to walk if possible. Overall great 3 day visit to Newport!

The cutest small town any time of year.
The cutest small town any time of year. I've been in the summer when people fill the beaches and streets, and I've been in the winter when the buildings are decorated with lights and everyone hangs ornaments on a Christmas tree on the beach. Lots of places to walk and explore both along the water and inland, many historical and beautiful buildings to tour, vineyards and beaches to spend your time, and wonderful places to stay.

We loved it all, but especially the Red Parrot and Moorings where we had great food. Ma's Donuts on the outskirts of the town was excellent too, if no good for the waistline. Travel in town is easy out of season. We walked a lot and when driving easily found parking for free.

Unfortunately, I reached the hotel on night of September 23rd whereas my booking Thro Booking.com was from September 24th
The hotel charged almost USD 1000 for one night, which I felt was terrible
Hotel was not full and charging more than double than per night rate of Booking.com left us with bad experience

Wonderful place to visit.
Wonderful place to visit.
When we bought the tickets to tour the mansion "The Breakers" we were told that we could upgrade our tickets to include more mansions when finished. For us, 1 mansion tour was sufficient, so I'm happy we didn't purchase a multi-tour upfront.
The Cliff Walk was a little more difficult than I had read in some reviews. We did the entire 3.5 miles & there were multiple spots of rocky terrain, not just one as I was expecting. However, it was worth it!
We timed the ocean drive for sunset & the views were gorgeous. There were multiple spots to stop to enjoy the view even more.
We got around Newport mostly by walking, it is do-able but many roads have no sidewalks, so if you need an even terrain, I wouldn't attempt walking everywhere.
A comfortable, clean and lovely inn very near the wharf area of Newport. Although we were on the third floor the room was spacious and airy. The bathroom was beautiful (big walking shower and jacuzzi!) and there was the additional bonus of both a small kitchen (with coffee/tea maker, a frig etc) and a lovely outdoor deck. Breakfast was good and there were extras like brownies in the dining room. Beautiful yard and lots of parking in the back. Would happily stay again
You can't beat the location - a quiet, charming residential street just 1 block from the main street. Very quiet and you hardly knew anyone else was staying there. It was almost like having a private house to yourself. Everything recently renovated incl. the bathrooms. Well-decorated and very comfy beds. Linens and towels were very nice and above standard hotel grade. Lovely living room/lounge if you needed extra space. Staff returned messages promptly.
Location was perfect, about 5 or 6 minutes walk from the harbour area, shops and restaurants, and about the same from the beginning of the avenue of grand Newport houses. Walking distance to the beach too (about 25 minutes). The property is in the old residential part of Newport, a quiet area of clapboard houses. The house has lots of character and the proprietors were friendly. Breakfast was good, with warm savoury and sweet pastries.
Loved the room and location. View was spectacular. Super friendly staff and amazingly quick check-in. Newport is a great town and the hotel is near to everything. I would have liked to see a little more at the resort for kids. Space was limited but maybe a small play area (swingset)? Also, the biggest deficiency was how dated the suite was. It was large and comfortable, but getting old. Kind of had an 80's look.
The accommodations were spotless. I forgot my slippers and walked around with bare feet and the floor was very clean as the rest of the room. In the morning a nice container of warm fresh pastries and fruit show up at your door to enjoy with your fresh coffee you can make in your own room. The accommodations give you a real sense of how Old Newport felt long ago. Not your average stale hotel room.
This was the prettiest, coziest, more comfortable place to stay ever. The Innkeepers where so attentive and welcoming, the breakfast was superb and every little thing in this house seemed like they really care for detail… If you’re looking for a safe and homelike place to stay in Newport this is it, stop looking.
Authentic old world Newport with modern amenities. Steps away from the cliff walk, mansions, and nightlife. Superb breakfast and attention to every detail. The owners thought of everything and are always on standby for special requests. Newport hotels x3 the price do not have this level of service. Thank you!
This hotel is ideally located on the main shopping street in downtown Newport. Our room faced the street. with a nice view, was relatively large, and decorated and a cheery fashion. The morning breakfast was in a nice old room room that looked like a study and was absolutely awesome.
This was a great, boutique, hotel right next to the Newport Art Museum. We used it as a base for our stay to attend a wedding. The staff, especially, were very attentive, sending text reminders of any activities in town that might affect our parking, etc. We enjoyed it throughly.
Room was generally ok - clean, comfortable and large enough for a family of three. Hotel staff were very friendly. The location was good - it is close to the Waterfront area where lots of restaurants are located, not far from the beach and the Tennis Hall of Fame museum.
The Beverage Manager was the loveliest lady we have ever encountered at any hotel EVER... The roof top bar is great but the bartender in the main dining is a very fine mixologist. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the location makes it the best spot in Newport...
I liked the warmth of the hotel and it was quiet but close to everything. Breakfast was great! Peter was a gem, open and helpful host. I loved Newport! I honestly didn't get to see as much as the first day the weather was foggy. Got a sunny day so happy days...
Loved the location and the quirkiness of the hotel as it’s so old….owner was helpful in parking and telling us places to visit. Great to have a fridge in the room as well.
The location was perfect and private parking at the back of the hotel. The staff very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was available to us but we didn’t avail of it.
The hotel was just lovely, in a peaceful area, breakfast yummy and the wine and nibbles time late afternoon was a lovely bonus and great time to meet other guests
The location of the hotel was perfect for easily walking around Newport. The front lobby and bar staff were very friendly. The coffee spot was amazing!
