The location of Sand Bar Cottage Inn was amazing. Only 1-2 blocks to the middle Bar Harbor's restaurant and shop scene. The innkeeper, Chris, was SUPER! The time spent was on the opening shoulder season. The price was awesome and the staff as well. If you want a 100% of all the facilities just wait a few weeks and you will have some great extras. Perfect distance from Bar Habor as you are in your own small hamlet

Lovely coastal town free of chain restaurants!!
Lovely coastal town free of chain restaurants!! All the shops and restaurants seemed locally owned and unique to the area. We enjoyed lots of seafood like fresh lobster, clam chowder and lobster bisque. Be sure to walk the coastal path and take a harbor cruise! We loved flying Cape Air from Boston to Bar Harbor to see the coast and islands--just be sure to pick up your luggage in Boston and bring it to the Cape Air terminal! Restaurants we liked-- Geddy's, Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium for ice cream/gelato/fudge, Stewman's, Bar Harbor Lobster Pound --they had outdoor games, too! Of course, don't miss Acadia National Park and Abel's Lobster right by the yacht yard--great outdoor ambiance!!

We enjoyed sunrises at Cadillac Mountain, crossing the bar at low tide, hiking the Beehive, the Bubbles, and Acadia Mountain, and walking on a small portion of the carriage roads.
Bar Harbor had great food, but it was tough to get into the restaurants. Our favorite was the Side Street Cafe.
We went in late October. Pros - lower crowds. Con - water activities and some restaurants were already closed for the season.

We loved Gaylns restaurant, excellent food. Whole belly clams were terrific at the Thirsty Whale. You can walk just about every where. The Sightseeing & Nature Cruise with Acadian Nature Cruises was worth taking.

absolutely gorgeous.
absolutely gorgeous. Loved the distance from the hotel to Acadia Nt'l Park, as well as, to the center of Bar Harbor. Love all the shops & exploring the different restaurants in town. We've been 1x before & the weather was perfect for getting great views @ the top of the mountains in Acadia. This time, we weren't so lucky - very foggy daily. But it was still just as beautiful. Highly recommend. the outdoor pool & hot tub are fantastic here after a long day of biking/hiking. The view of the ocean with the docked ships is quite beautiful. If you're lucky like we were, you may see Bald Eagles, deer or other wild life. :)
Clean, spacious room with a private balcony overlooking gardens and trees displaying beautiful fall foliage. The room’s decor was simple and perfect and restful— not distracting. A walk of a couple blocks brings you to the bar for which Bar Harbor is named, and where you can walk to the island beyond at low tide. Neighborhood the Manor is in is out of the fray of the bustle of Bar Harbor’s Main Street. Breakfast was a treat—billed as “continental”, but a generous, high end continental.
The room was basic but stocked with everything you need - a bit older, but quite clean and the beds were comfortable. The view from the balcony was lovely and was the reason I booked this hotel - every room has a balcony and ocean view. The hot breakfast served was one of the better I've had from a hotel with a wide variety. The staff was very friendly and I like that the hotel has a shuttle to take guests to the downtown area of Bar Harbor. Thanks for the great stay!
Atlantic Oceanside is our first choice when staying in Bar Harbor. The property sits directly on the ocean with wonderful views from every room. Located perfectly between downtown and the main entrance to Acadia National Park, it offers quiet and close proximity to everything. Hotel staff are exceptionally friendly and service oriented. The food at breakfast and at the Bistro is excellent. All this plus a warm pool and hot tub completes a great vacation!
Wow, this hotel is lovely.
On the main street of Bar Harbor, but without the noise and traffic.
Parking was excellent right behind the hotel.
The room was a little strange in its location, but it afforded a lovely decking area and had all the amenities.
The location makes it easy to get into and out of town, while still only being a short walk from the main part of town and the waterfront.
Would definetly stay here again.
A really lovely hotel on the edge of Bar Harbor close to Acadia National Park. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice and spacious, we wanted for nothing. We particularly liked the way the hotel encouraged guests to recycle items and all products used at breakfast were recyclable which was fantastic! The breakfast too was really nice with a great choice of items each day.
Location to bar Harbor and the National park was good, a long walk into Bar harbor, although there was a fee bus going to hub in Bar Harbor, this was something we noticed after parking in the Center car park after a $8 fee for 2 hrs to park, The staff did inform us about this and provide a time table for all pick up points, but only after seeing the bus on our return later that evening,
The room was newly renovated and was extremely clean. The hotel was very thoughtful in letting us know that we can park at the property and roam around bar harbor if we arrive early. They also had breakfast boxes you could pick up from front desk, which was also very thoughtful of them given the hikes you are going to be doing.
Although a few miles away from Bar Harbor, we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and level of comfort at this out of town motel. Room prices in Bar Harbor, for even basic accommodation, can get ludicrously expensive, but Gallagher's Travels pricing offered way more value than most in town.
Great location just minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. Much cheaper than staying in the middle of the city. The free Island Explorer bus stops right in front of the motel twice an hour to take you downtown if you don't want to drive. Renovated recently so felt clean.
Easy access to downtown Bar Harbor and all the island fun. Motel staff is friendly and helpful. Facilities are clean and quiet. I thought this was a great value compared to insane hotel prices in downtown and it is just a quick drive and definitely walkable into downtown.
Contactless check-in with room code texted to your phone is so convenient. Comfortable bed with a small kitchenette and mini fridge. Located very close to Acadia park entrance as well as downtown Bar Harbor. Great water pressure though the stand up shower is a bit small.
I have been in bar harbor several times now and this is one of the hotels with the best view if you get a well positioned 4th floor room. The view at sunrise is amazing so if you go there to enjoy the sunrise is one of the best place you can get!
The room was very clean and very beautiful. The view was the best I’ve ever had from a hotel room. The room was right next to an on property restaurant. The town of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are within a few miles. Lovely place!
The proximity of the hotel to Acadia National Park and to downtown Bar Harbor was excellent. The hotel had some fun extras like s'mores by the firepit and hot apple cider.
I liked that the tea and coffee was available all day.
The hotel was clean and very close to downtown Bar Harbor. We walked there in about 5 min. The location was great! They don’t really have a breakfast but had some yummy muffins that were grab and go. The staff was nice.
It was a great location within a really short drive to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. The staff was friendly and gave assistance when needed. The room was large and had plenty of room to spread out.
The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel is a beautiful hotel on Main Street in Bar Harbor. Easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants. Close to Acadia National Park. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
Overnight stay in Bar Harbor. Room was very clean and had all the amenities we needed for the price. Location was excellent close to everything downtown. Very happy with the accommodations and price.
