The location was great. The wine and cheese with lemonade and the continental breakfast were very appreciated. The garden setting and chaise lounges were wonderful because we had to check out by 11, but our ferry left at 4. The water jugs were a nice thought. The coupon with Avalon Grill was very nice.

Very quaint small town with cute shops, restaurants, great views, and plenty to explore. Can be done on a budget, but the touristy activities will drain your wallet. Quiet town, but noisy and crowded when cruise ships pull up so plan accordingly.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants, excursions and beaches. Be sure to book excursions in advance of your stay because the cruise ships stop here so most of the excursions get sold out in advance.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe.
I loved the calm relaxing vibe. It felt like a quaint sea side village from the past. Everything was very clean and the walking on the beach frontage or the walk to the casino were very pleasant for us seniors. I also saw young families with small children which appeared to be ideal for that phase of family life because the beach is so close. I hadn't been to Avalon for over 20 years and was extremely happy with the way it has evolved and the pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much, but if I come back with my young adult grand daughters, they would probably want to do more of the activities which are available.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving.
Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving. There are more small cars. The businesses seem to be sustainable and pretty much thriving, and all is a positive experience.
Catalina is a mere 27-30 miles from where we live in So CA, but it could be HI, South of France or Southern Italy.
I think, just go there with the intent of slowing down and enjoying slower time and removing yourself from the balance of hectic life elsewhere. It is a good place to relax.

We visited at start of January (still school holidays) and found reduced restaurant and shop options. Restaurants tended to close early.
Easy 1hour comfortable ferry crossing to island with Catalina Express from Long Beach. Saw dolphins en route.
Just few minutes walk to main town, shops, restaurants and many hotels from ferry terminal.
Plenty of walks, but hilly. Fabulous views & plants/wildlife. Mostly golf carts or bikes and limited cars/local mini bus to get around.
Easy access to public restrooms around Avalon.
Would visit spring onwards for future visit.

Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days.
Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days. Lots of activities, food options, and shopping. It's charming and beautiful. The M restaurant is one of my favorites, with good breakfast and lunch options. At dinner, it's a good Italian restaurant.
The room was a lot more cheerful than the pictures made me think, nice windows, well appointed room that was slightly bigger than I thought from pictures. Bed was comfy. Soaking tub was also very nice. Great proximity to everything in Catalina. Lots of restaurants right around the corner. I loved how friendly and down to earth the people working and visiting were, nice vibe in Avalon. There is a Von's grocery store not far from hotel. Roof top area was nice also.
The Bellanca hotel was so overpriced for the room you get. It was more like a dirty beach motel than a hotel. Our room was extremely small, smelled musty, and the shower flooded the entire bathroom every time we used it. Our bathroom sink was clogged as well. We went to Catalina for a friend’s wedding and were just highly disappointed in this hotel, especially for it being almost $800 for 3 nights, just not worth it in my opinion.
Amber is the best! I have never been treated so well in a hotel. Thank you very much for her kindness and for her good service. I plan to return to this hotel very soon. excellent service, comfortable, clean place with excellent service, cozy place, close to everything. if you are planning to go to the island you definitely need to stay in this place. Amber if you read this thank you very much! you made our experience a pleasure.
A shuttle picked us up at the ferry and drove us up the steep hill to the hotel. The same shuttle was available throughout our stay to take us to and from town. The room had a fabulous view looking down on Catalina Harbor and a lovely terrace. The beds were comfortable and had high quality linens. The bathroom was very large and exceptionally nice with an enclosed shower stall separate from the bathtub.
Staff is amazing. Location is second to none. Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. This is an amazing hotel with everything at your fingertips and walking distance. Continental breakfast needs to be upgraded a tad bit, but that is not a show stopper. We will be staying here again. 1st class facility, 1st class staff, 100% satisfaction!!!!
The front desk staff, specifically Ayala, were amazing! From the time we arrived until the time we departed, they were extremely accommodating and made great recommendations on places to eat and things to do. The hotel is the most aesthetically pleasing on the island in my opinion. And the bedding was very comfortable.
The hotel is very well furnished and conveniently located. The "resort fee" is expensive, but did include $20 credit per day at some very nice restaurants. We went to Descanso Beach Club and Avalon Grill and enjoyed both. The standard queen room is tiny, but actually furnished to make the best use of space.
Early check at 11am was totally unexpected and very helpful giving us more options and scheduling flexibility. Emaculate facilities and exceptional staff. Wine and Cheese in afternoon was fun event and very well done. Extremely clean hotel and grounds very pleasing to the eye.
One of the two best views in town overlooking Avalon and the ocean at about half the price. The property has been beautifully updated with spacious luxury suites above one of only two hotel pools on the island. The entire staff was very friendly and always helpful.
Super friendly staff! I told them it was my bday and I received a present!! So kind of them.
The room itself didn’t have a view but it was modern, clean and comfortable and directly across from the beach!! So best views as soon as you stepped out of the hotel!
This property is right on the Main Street in Avalon and was an easy walk from the Catalina Express Dock. The room was very clean and supplied all of the basic amenities. This is an older hotel (over 100 yrs) but everything was in good working condition.
The location was great! Access to the main area was excellent. The room was very spacious and well maintained. I would highly recommend The Edge water for a comfortable, clean and great location when you travel to Catalina Island!
Hotel location was great and this was the most affordable place on the island. We stayed here in 2018 and really enjoyed it as it was MUCH nicer then. After this visit I would not recommend.
Only the location was good and close to everything. Hotel dirty and we won't ever stay there again. We asked for money back and we will see what happens. We would never recommend them again.
The hotel is very nice, however my cousin had some disability on her knees and the hotel and including the island does not have much accommodation for disabled visitors.
