The auntie whose home we stayed at was very warm and welcoming. She explained where to go and what to do. We communicated in Mandarin, although she speaks a few words of English as well. They picked us up from the ferry station. Communication prior to the stay was clear -- they are upfront that they don't provide towels, and they strongly advise you bring all the cash you need because there are only two ATMs on the island and they don't work with foreign cards. The auntie was very helpful in helping us get a rental car -- you will need a car or scooter to get around on the island. Our room had a sea view, and had air conditioning. She cooked us breakfast (essentially, toast and bacon).

Extremely convenient location being located right next to the ferry terminal. Also having a well stocked 7-11 right next door. Great views from our windows.
And the hosts went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well provided for during our stay. My son accidentally left his hat in our rental car and the owner brought it to us at the ferry dock just before our departure. Such incredible service!
