I booked a sea view suite and a twin room. Both had the best views and the rooms have been designed at their best. The facilities in the room are much more than expected which make the room special indeed. I would definitely recommend Sweet Atlantic Hotel to anyone who visits Figueira da Foz.

I went in the off-season and did not go to the casino.
I went in the off-season and did not go to the casino. The incredibly large beach made for great walking. The boardwalk and the promenade were excellent for walking, too. Not a hilly town, per se. And I don't think i would care for high summer season. Uber is easily available and taking the train to / from Coimbra was inexpensive and easy.
I am a serious walker (average 6-8 miles a day) so I found the town easy to navigate.

We spent most of our time close to the Hotel and at Praia da Claridade/ Praia Alto do Viso.
Since it was just one night, we couldn't bring a lot of comments to this.
Nevertheless, we walked thru the night and we had dinner at Feito ao Bife, which is a very nice meat place, where you can eat different types of meat on the stone.
People from Figueira are very kind and warm.
They offer a lot of services and there is as well a Casino if you like to try your luck.
The city in a half season is quite easy to walk or drive.

Figueira da Foz seems to be a working town, not too much of a tourist town. Although it was not beach season and the beach was fog covered, it was very large and beautiful. We found some very good restaurants with traditional Portuguese food.

We loved Fig da Foz!
We loved Fig da Foz! A fairly quite resort town, just what we like! The only drawback is a pulp or paper mill located south of town. When the fog comes in so does the smell of the mill. We would consider living here if the mill is not a huge problem.

I was there in September and it was already dead.
I was there in September and it was already dead. Loads of things closed.
It's pleasant enough with good public amenities but there really isn't anything to do except explore the excellent beach.
Getting around without a car can be a challenge: the station is 25 minutes from the beach and although quite a few buses go to the market (much fewer to the beach) it's close to impossible to find out about them.
I hardly ever saw a taxi.
The best bit for me was lunch at the excellent Cafe Praca 18.

The Claridade Beach is the best place I have visited in Figueira da Foz, lots of seafood and restaurants near by. Jet7.5 near Praça do Forte is a great restaurant with live music! Worth to have a try. I quite enjoy walking by the beach, so all my visit was on foot.

We spent 2 nights in the property during our trip across Portugal. Check-in/out was easy and prompt, not an issue. However, the hotel requires some renovation and decoration I would say. I had a feeling that I was trapped in 1990th… Nevertheless, the room was tidy and spacious. The bathroom facility is better than expected. The breakfast meal variety was modest but worth its value. Hotel’s staff was supportive and did their best to accommodate requests if any.
Breakfast was included, and it was nothing short of fabulous!! Many choices, excellent cooked food, excellent coffee and tea choices, a basketful of a nice variety of delightful baked goods. Also, the staff was friendly, though only Theresa could speak any English, so that was a difficulty in trying to explain to the owner what was wrong with the A/C. But the location is wonderful for Figueira da Foz!
This hotel is very well positioned right on the seafront and is within easy walking distance of the vibrant cafe and restaurant area. The staff were very helpful and offered good advice on things to do and see, where to eat etc.
Like all Mercure hotels, you know what to expect and this reassuring.
Good value for money and a safe bet.
Breakfast was very good value and offered a complete buffet.
The apartment is well appointed, immaculate, tastefully decorated and exceptionally comfortable. Luis the owner is cordial, professional and immediately available if need be amdnhis staff represents him well.
The apartment is in a phenomenal location in the heart of Figueira da Foz with multiple fantastic restaurant choices within short walking distance.
I will certainly return again and again!
Natalie and Anthony were wonderful and friendly. They couldn't have been more accommodating during our stay. Their guesthouse and gardens are beautiful (we stayed in the outside self-contained accommodation) and felt like a little oasis. Favourite stay of our 2 week holiday in Portugal. Highly recommend. We'd come back to Figueira Da Foz just to stay there again.
Also, could someone explain how the 5 star hotel is down in the valley with no ocean view? Just, for me, a really nice place to relax, get some sun, grocery store is right over there, sushi, espresso right down at the board walk, walk to the harbor, really? Just perfect to relax for a weekend. Also there is a piano at the bar.
What I really liked was the fact that it was something out of the norm. Instead of the normal hotel experience we decided to do a little "camping tour", with the most adorable puppy. Really fun, highly recommend it for camping enthusiasts, but with some precautions...
This is just a fantastic place! The view from the hotel rooftop or the pool is simply breathtaking. Very clean and cozy. The tomatoes and other greens from their own garden are a must-try! The staff is responsive and courteous. I will definitely come back here again!
The room was new or recently renovated and facilities/ equipment were in almost excellent condition. Stuff was very friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was served in the next hotel and it was very worth the money, huge variety and delicious.
Great value for a quick getaway. Paid a lot less for a week stay there than I would for most hotels. And the lower price didn't mean significantly lower quality - the room was big, very clean, and comfortable.
Lovely boutique hotel, with well appointed rooms and bar. Balcony well worth the extra few Euros. Staff exceptional, friendly and professional. Great value for money.
