What I liked the most were the old streets, with the buildings, including the Angra do Heroismo Museum. However, there were a few minor annoyances:
1. The Tourust Information booth was useless, and you couldn't book a tour on-site.
2. The routes were pretty narrow, and people parked on the street, and nearly everyone drove, which made it a bit perilous for those on foot.
Nevertheless, the people were nice, and most spoke English

We did a lot of walking as it’s often the best way to get to know a place. Angra has much to offer in the way of history, beautiful public gardens, views - we climbed Monte Brasil - churches and eateries.

Beautiful, walkable downtown. People were so friendly.
Beautiful, walkable downtown. People were so friendly. Stunning views both looking at Monte Brasil and from Monte Brasil looking back toward town. The pink cathedral was very interesting, worth a stop in. Food was excellent! We especially enjoyed O Forno for dessert and the many tapas restaurants on Rua de Sāo Joāo. We also went scuba diving and found Nuno with Deep Blue Azores to be fantastic - wonderful dive master and very interactive underwater. Wonderful island and already itching to go back!

I was only there for one day, which was definitely not enough! Still, I was able to do a hike at Monte Brasil and explore Angra do Heroísmo downtown. Really recommend Monte Brasil if you are looking for some nature near town. Besides that the view from Obelisco do Alto da Memoria is amazing! I had lunch at Tasca das Tias, a really cute restaurante with great food.

Breakfast was wonderful--I especially appreciated being able to have access to large bottles of water. The hotel is gorgeous, the staff wonderful, and the food marvelous--thank your so very much!!! Thank you also for keeping the chapel open and beautifully kept, and the pool open at night--I enjoyed being able to swim after dark in the quiet!
Hard to imagine a better hotel (maybe it would have a pool and a bar open Sunday and Monday nights). Exquisitely designed suites with a real stove, delicious food in the restaurant including full breakfast, recessed lighting, high-end ceramics, plus a relaxed and kind staff. The restaurant has an excellent and reasonably priced wine list.
While I was paying I notice that shown at the desk was $65 euros a night. Did not much with the price I paid. Next time I will deal directly with the hotel. I like the place, location and the staff.but I could have saved money if I booked directly. That is what I will recommend to my friends and family.the
Memoria Hostel is a very treasure in the island. Our staying in the Hotel over exceed the expectations. Sergio and Helena and the rest of the Team give us a very wonderful experience. Giving us useful suggestions and always caring about our needs. Room, breakfast and structure is super cool!!
Hotel Ilha impressed me with its prime location, excellent communication, and thoughtful approach to parking. The central location allowed easy access to attractions, dining, and shopping. The staff's communication was exceptional, providing timely assistance and helpful information.
Room was very spacious with a couch and side table; and a balcony overlooking the backyard. Use of common kitchen was very helpful, and so was the staff. Nice breakfast. Close to grocery store, and 10 min walk to city center. Easy and inexpensive parking in front of hotel.
Lots of fun and unusual decorations in the rooms and hallways. Friendly staff. The breakfast was a significantly better than many B&Bs we have stayed in Portugal. Large rooms. Next to Canadinha, which is one of the best local seafood restaurants on the island.
Some staff was extremely nice, the view of the room very pretty with amazing sunsets. The breakfast was good and the roof top bar its nice. The gym was good and the spa was good, not great. It s at a good price point for a 5 star hotel
Very pleasant and accommodating owner Joaquina. High speed wifi available. Very spacious and comfortable accommodations. The bus to the nearby towns (Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Victoria) runs every hour (until about 7 p.m.).
Front desk staff is amazing. Breakfast buffet is yummy and plentiful. Loved our room and the whole ambiance of the hotel. Also, how often will I have the chance to sleep in a 16th century fort that's also a historical landmark?
actually I think it's the best hotel in value for money: it's renovated, close to city center and ocean pool. Breakfast is really good - there is everything that you need: cheese/sausage, eggs, fruits etc
Good hotel in perfect location in the centre of Angra do Heroísmo and with the view of beautiful garden. Next to the hotel is taxi stop. Rooms are big enought. Breakfast was ok.
In a central location overlooking the ocean. Hotel was very clean and staff was great. I was able to get a room hours prior to checkin time as our flight arrived early.
Modern, confortable hotel in a wonderful location by the sea. Very good swimming pool. Very good breakfast. The room with balcony with sea views was perfect.
