The room was absolutely prestine. The carpet passed the smell test😀. I often find that carpets are a big let down in many hotels, but I was very pressed. The room was fresh, it smelled of 'nothing', just the way I like it.

We only stayed one night, as came to Palmy for a family do and were expecting to get to the inn to sleep after midnight.
We checked in at around 4pm to get the keys. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The premises, even though dated, were clean and tidy. The room was also very tidy. It looked like the carpet was replaced not long ago, and the room did not have that dated smell as you would expect of an old place. The sink in the room was quite handy.
The communal kitchen was also very clean. It felt like a place very well looked after.

Great service and a chocolate on arrival in the room. The best beds in room 2 and super sleep. Close to all the food areas on the street which is beyond the entrance with the rooms tucked away off the street.

Palmerston North is not a place I'd generally choose to go. But I came for a show for the night at the Regent. Fantastic show. I was also pleasantly surprised by local cafe Joe's Garage. Excellent coffee and food. Walking distance everywhere, great Asian restaurants too.

The shopping is Fantastic especially Kmart and the Plaza, and also the OPP Shops. LOL I walked around a bit more this time and discovered some great shops which we don't have in Wanganui where I live. I mainly went for a Buddhist Retreat but extended my stay to do some great shopping. Favorite shops, Kmart, Salvation Army Shop, St Vinnies Opp shop and St John Opp shop. Food shops Ocggi Sushi at the Plaza mall, Noodles N Dumplings, McDonalds at the Plaza. I also shopped at Downtown Souvenirs and Gifts, Whitcoulls the Plaza, Aquisition's, Hello Banana, Inspire me and a few other shops. I had to use taxis because I have a mobility problem, but they were cheap because I used my mobility card for a great discount. I don't think I would avoid anything;

The motel was easy to find, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The staff were very nice. It was very reasonably priced. It has limited kitchen facilities, but is fine to make yourself a simple breakfast.

Kmart open until midnight - crazy!.
Kmart open until midnight - crazy!. The park in the centre of city is beautiful and big. There is lots of completely different features including massive deck chairs that can sit an entire family or plenty of spaces for picnics. Short walking distance to every place you would want to go, free parking if you are willing to walk a couple of blocks to get to the malls/plaza. Food is AMAZING, especially the Korean restaurant we went to, and the bubble tea in plaza is yummy - they have fruit balls if you don't like tapioca like us. Plenty of shopping, only wish some of the stores stayed open a bit later, so much to do, so little time.

Palmerston North has pretty countryside surroundings and lovely wide streets but the town square is very tricky to navigate and gets busy but that's where the shops are mostly.
Very little to do there for apart from walks, gardens and cafes. That's all the brochures offered. We went op shopping which was really good. Too many fast food eateries but very few good restaurants. We went to the turkish cafe, really good.
We went up the Wind farm to view the turbines, no where to stop and take decent photos!! And everyone drives too fast up there.
No activities in town for indoor wet weather entertainment.
I've travelled all around NZ and found this town pretty boring in comparison.. We were there for a tournament, luckily we were at that venue mostly (Heads up to Hockey Manawatu). Only ate out once for dinner. ! So many missed opportunities!!

Check google maps, once you work out the way the main streets are laid out it is easy to navigate. Shopping experience along with ample restuarants. The countryside around Palmerston North is well worth a look as are nearby cities about 1 hour or so away like Napier or Wanganui.

We were very glad of a room to stay as accommodation in Palmerston North was sold out. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of off road parking. The room was basic and clean. We had a sink and towels provided in our room. The picture very much sums the place up - it looks like it has been a local stopping off place for many years and the pub frequented by locals. Was able to help myself to a cup of tea and toast in the morning.
I booked the family room it was big and spacious with lounge setting and had a dining table aswell, second room was very lovely with a extra big bed and was very comfortable. The bath tub was a decent size tub and hot water that didn't run out. Heating was grate! Very very clean throughout and the cleaners were absolutely the best!! Very polite welcoming staff. Good food and drinks from the restaurant and bar. Over all grate stay!
It was such a fab. stay definitely more than I expected: spacious rooms, excellent cleanliness, warm hospitality, and even easy breakfast items were prepared with the consideration that shops are far from the accommodation. Very good communication of the host and kindness to wait for me till the late time. All the facility and rooms were very comfortable and the best place to have a rest.
Good location, but particularly liked teh self contained laundry and the small kitcheneet which enable me to keep my idetary requirements and not blow a fortune on eating out for every meal. The Quest is also close to excelent supermarkets and restaurants. It is also quite quiet inside even though it is located on Fitzherbert Avenue.
This hotel is exactly what you're paying for. My wife and I stayed here for one night as a place to lay our heads before driving further on our adventure. The hotel is not in the best of neighborhoods, and the hotel does have limited gated parking. The staff was friendly, and there wasn't any issues during our stay.
Great location near the city with good parking spaces. Staff were friendly. I was so amazed that the housekeeping made my bed and changed my towels given how short staffed hospitality is and most places struggling in this area. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the facilities in my room.
After staying in hotels it was great to have all the facilities of a home. We were only in PN for two days to visit family but this property suited our needs exactly.
Perfect for us with a dog as I was able to walk him comfortably very close to the hotel with no travel required.
Parking right next to our room was also available.
- The receptionist was so nice and friendly
- The only cheapest accommodation in Palmerston North.
- Loved the location, rooms were nice and clean, good facilities.
