This hotel is amazing from historical perspective and the experience was very good. It was built in 1901, and still in very good condition. The room was big with king sise bed. Small bathroom. AC. two big windows. Antique design with classic furniture. Small TV and small bar fridge. From the window we saw the HIDALGO PARK at historical downtown . The location is perfect to enjoy the old city (just half block from the beautiful cathedral and central park).

An oasis of calm after the busy streets of Mérida and wonderful to have a pool to cool off in. We had a room with a terrace and the pool was directly outside so it was almost like a private pool. It was very quiet when we stayed and I would definitely recommend it.

You need to rent a car in order to travel around. I have had a base stay in Merida. Merida is general overpriced and that doesnt mean the quality will follow for the value of the money. Merida itself is not interesting at all.

We really liked the city.
We really liked the city. You need to understand the bus situation and we tried, bought bus passes, tried using them but they were not coded the way our phone was displaying so we ended up using taxi service for all of our visitations to museums, central, restaurants, etc. It wasn't expensive but much more than the simple bus or combi travel would have been. Merida has lots to offer, especially with tours outside of the city, a bus trip to the beach in Progresso for 25 pesos each way, very cheap, cenotes, pyramids, on and on!

Merida is a big, historic, busy city surrounded by Mayan ruins, historic haciendas and beautiful cenotes. The Merida restaurant scene has everything from chef owned culinary gems to family run taco shops. There are many excellent tour guides available for in-depth exploration of the city and surroundings or one can do so on their own using public transportation or with a rental car.
Fast and reliable WiFi--the first time I've experienced this in 2 months in Mexico. My zoom calls were perfectly stable. Almost everyone who worked at the hotel spoke really good English--this is the first time I've experienced this in Mexico (I've only been to the Yucatan). Everyone was super helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable, and stylish. Perfect location--walking distance from bus station and the central square. And the hotel is affordable. This is a gem!
I feel honored that I met these two people in my travel to Mexico. They made the Merida experience even more special for us. Both Catrina and Diego are marvelous hosts, we had great time together in the breakfast hours, the facility was clean and with a lot of history, close to the city center. She cooked for us and we had great time. It was actually very emotional the whole experience. Diego and Catrina muchas gracias por todos!! (los griegos)
What we liked the most was the proximity to both Paseo de Montejo and the Plaza Grande. Also, the service was exceptional the owner of the small hotel was at the property every day and he's very nice, courteous, and helpful. He would offer us water and coffee every time he would see us and when we went to the beach he lent us a couple of towels and a beach bag. We'll loved Merida and I'll try to book a room at this hotel again when we go back.
An excellent little hotel in the heart of Merida! We arrived in the evening having driven from the Cancun airport and it was a really welcoming first night of our trip. Staff were super friendly and helpful, room was cozy and had everything we needed, beds we notably comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was made to order and delicious. All in all a great place to stay and explore the city.
This was our favourite place we have stayed in Mexico. Great location. Room was super spacious, and had a desk which was a nice touch. The beds were really comfortable and the air conditioning worked really well. Shower water pressure was excellent, great hot water. We also got new bottles of water every day which was much appreciated. WiFi really good.
You could not ask for more: The room was big with a nice fridge, the parking next door, you could sit outside the room in a nice area, the breakfast was the best we had in Mexico and the little restaurant offered a healthy alternative to the tipical mexican food. To top everything else you could ask for a "pre breakfast coffee" if you woke early.
I had the pleasure of staying at a remarkable hotel in Merida, Mexico, and I must say that the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The property itself was truly incredible - from the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a captivating blend of exquisite decoration and an ambiance that exuded both luxury and comfort
Casa Garza is one of my favorite hostels in Mexico so far!
- Comfortable beds
- The kitchen is super nice and clean
- Good breakfast
- Really nice staff
- Good location, only 5 minutes from the ADO bus station and the main square
- There is a pet turtle
Overall the place feels so homy and cosy
The location of the Hotel was very good with walking distance to almost anywhere we wanted to go in downtown Merida. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The staff was very nice and helpful. It was nice to have the parking garage next door.
I would like to recommend this nice place to all! It was so clean, nice, beautiful. One of the best stays in hole Mexico during our 3 weeks trip. Parking behind the gate, we were calm for our property. It was amazing to stay there.
The location is excellent, downtown, close to the best restaurants. The hotel is clean very simple, but they keep it ok. They have parking spaces in the same building that in Mérida is not always often downtown.
The hotel is just in the very Center of Merida and close to all main sightseeings. Very beautiful lobby and pool area. Very friendly, helpful and prompt staff. Spacious and quiet room.
Israel the guy on reception was very sweet and helpful. the building is beautiful with a lot of character. location is excellent. bedroom was big.
it’s relatively quiet for Mexico
The style of hotel is exceptional. Staff was very friendly and flexible, relaxed. We felt at home really. The view to the church was hypnotaising. Very romantic mexico place.
Absolutely the best hotel we had in Mexico. In addition, we received an upgrade. Very professional and nice staff. If I return to Mexico, I will definitely stay here again.
