Icy Falls - Ohiya, hotel in Ohiya

Situated in Ohiya, 39 km from Gregory Lake, Icy Falls - Ohiya features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Ohiya is a tiny place surrounded by the highlands, and Icy Falls is well situated to take advantage of the view. We spent two nights there with the intention to visit Hortons Plains, the staff were very helping for organizing transport to the park, and well as suggesting other activities for the remainder of our time. We had a lovely balcony for our down time, and also enjoyed the meals in the restaurant.

Lovely property, verily simple for the price but nice location if you want to go to Horton Plains. But close to nothing else around. So best for families in order to make the journey a bit cheaper. The host can cook food for you which is super delicious!

    Almost everything.

Almost everything. Location was close to Horton Plains and the owners arranged a tuk tuk ride for a nominal fee. Lovely surrounding. Food was tasty and ample given. Really worth it. Owners were friendly and made the guests feel at home.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go.

Ohiya is a place definitely worth to go. Horton Plains are absolutely gorgeous, but even the unusual forests around Ohiya, birds, other animals and all the plants (especially flowers and coniferous species) are worth to see. We loved the mysterious weather, hot mornings, misty afternoons or evenings, and beautiful nights with distant thunderstorms. This place is fabulous and we wish to come back again. Best restaurant for us was staying at Muthu Nisindi in Forest Cyniciam Holiday Bungalow. And her husband Mahinda took care of us with his tuk-tuk, being always on time, always prepared to stop to show us an an animal or answer question or wish. We definitely recommend animal watching around the village, walks in forest, eating all the food you can and going to Horton Plains at least for two days to hike through all the paths available, we managed to do just 2 hikes and will come back once to see the rest.

This stay is very rustic, in a good kind of way. The host where very simple people, always kind and smiling. They prepared us tea all the time because it is very cold in Ohiya and it was great. We came late because we had problems with transfer, but they still prepared us a full and tasty dinner. We arranged transfer to Horton's Plains through the hosts and they prepared us breakfast for our morning ride. There was hot water but no heating. This is a great place to stay, just don't forget to bring warm clothing.

The location within the tea plantations is perfect with a breathtaking view down to the plains. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is great. Rooms are spacious and very clean with a wonderful view from the bed. The owners organise a Tuk-Tuk for a whole day for a reasonable price. We started our trip to Horton Plains very early (5:45) and were provided with breakfast boxes. The owner takes ecology protection seriously, no plastic bottles or plastic bags are being provided.

100 % recommend this place and people there! It is magic place in this small village, like miracle. The hotel is new, staff is helpful (arranged for us trip to Hortons plains). The food was amazing 🤩. The owners are nice people, who care about your comfort. View from the restaurant and also from the room (bed, shower) is just WAU. There is beautiful sunrise and you can see a lot of monkeys playing in the trees.

The home had a nice view of the surrounding area and the dinner and breakfast was tasty Sri Lankan cuisine. The family also gave us a recommendation for a local walk which we really enjoyed. The staff was really helpful, they helped organizing the transport to Horton's Plains and provided tuk tuk transport from train station. There is an option to buy a dinner, which is super convienient, because in Ohiya there are no restaurants.

Nice hotel. Basic room, but the owners were really friendly and good. They made me a big dinner, arranged a Tuk Tuk to get to World’s End and gave me a packed lunch. Ohiya is also a nice location. Recommended if you’re there.

The people who run this place are very friendly, and the old lady cooks very nice curry, and very cheaply too. If you are a group, having the bungalow with three bedrooms and a small living room to yourself is very nice.
