Staff was friendly and first reception to ask me for my Citizen-card and not the passport after I spoke japanese, made me happy.
I was able to enter my room early.
Nice area, close enough to the station and bus stop.
The restaurant in the hotel was surprisingly good.

I prefer hotels that are close to transport hubs; have basic facilities suited to solo traveller (mainly, washing machines); and have convenient eating options nearby (usually found in/around á train station). Washington hotel met these requirements. The hotel shows its age around the edges, but there was actually some charm in the old style gilt mirrors, etc. Other small bonuses: quiet, even though close to train line (Tottori not very busy anyway); good view of city and surrounding hills from upper floor room. Room size more than adequate.
Too bad I didn't have the time to stay another couple of days. I would have enjoyed it.

One word- UNDERRATED!
I had 5x as much fun here than expected. Sand Dunes? Sure, cool. But the list is long: the impressive Uradome Coast, the cute Hakuto Shrine for lovers, Chinese Garden Enchoen with cheap Chinese dress experience, Togo Lake surrounded by onsens, Mt Daisen dressed in its best autumn colors.... and everything is super fun! I can't recommend this destination more. Just brace for some challenging public transport. It's doable by buses etc. though. Use Japan Transit Planner app if Google Maps doesn't show you the route.
I was here 5 days but I think 6 would be better (I wanted to see Shoji Ueda Museum of Photography and a yokai manga museum).

Dunes weee amazing.
Dunes weee amazing. But avoid summer days with no cloud cover. The sand gets insanely hot! The French’s renaissance house and gardens were great in the front of the castle ruins and well worth a visit.

Was a great family trip.
Was a great family trip. We enjoyed a lot sand dunes and museum. Kodomonokoukoku park was also above expectations. The sea clean and nice. Spent there only 2 days, but wished we could stay a bit longer and see all the coastal line.

Tottori Sand Dunes are breathtaking! We could have enjoyed longer.
Sand museum was an amazing experience. One can feel how much work and passion is behind those pieces of art!
We did not have enough time to
enjoy fully...one hour was not enough, but we were happy to have the opportunity to see them!

Tottori is a very nice place to visit at any season!
Tottori is a very nice place to visit at any season! You can walk around the city and find very cute small places to enjoy a warm cup of coffee and handmade scones at "cafe nee" or at night enjoy local beer at "beer bonds AKARI". For travelers with children, Warabe-kan is highly recommended. There are many activities children can enjoy, like play music, sing, and experience playing with japanese toys.

The Sand Dunes/Geo Park are a must see, and easy/cheap to get to. The coastline is stunning, and the delicacies of the region (crab, shallots, asian pear, and more) are delicious. There are loads of restaurants and parks, castle ruins, and a childrens Toy Museum with lots of hands-on activities (Warabekan). We took a train to neighbouring Yonago City, and hiked around Mt. Daisen. Lots more to see there, as well. I would go back to Tottori both to explore the city (and it's food), and the many outdoor activities.
I was ALONE on the entire floor!!
The location is awesome once you understand the layout of Tottori. 10 minutes walk to the station.
His name escaped me now, but the staff was the only one. His English was as fluent as l have ever run into over here. He even helped me get my luggage up, and then he walked me to the bus with my luggage on the day l left!!!
Big Onion restaurant is the best food l have had in ages l ate there both nights! Green Rich Hotel has AYCE breakfast for 1100yen!!
This capsule hotel is very close to Tottori station, about a five minute walk. You can easily get a bus to the sand dunes. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby, so it is easy to get dinner or breakfast. The capsules were very spacious, they are tall enough to stand up in and come with a TV, hangers for your clothes and a lockable box. There is a lounge and cafe on the first floor. The cafe closes around 8, but you can use the lounge 24 hours.
This hotel was a short walk from the train station and had a wonderful, welcoming staff. The small room was clean and tidy and provided a haven while storming and rainy outside. The breakfast was basic yet good, and there were amenities nearby, such as a Starbucks and kombini. When I had to wait longer than anticipated for a train to leave, they kindly let me stay in the eating area while I read with my luggage.
Very Clean and Nice, Close to Tottori Station, Staff was very good better than at some major hotels in other cities that I stayed in, 2 free drinks included with reservation, near many conbini restaurants and grocery stores, lots of good tourist information, very good English, Felt very modern.
A great hotel with a large hot spring for hotel guests. We had a pretty large double room with very large queen-sized beds. There was parking for 500 yen per night right in front of the hotel. A little corner with souvenirs was nice, too. The location is central, but it was very quiet.
Kind and helpful staff. We changed the plan and had to cancel the dinner we booked before our departure, and the hotel staff called the restaurant and cancelled our booking for me. Basic cosmetic sets for female customers were good, too.
Nice spot easy to find in the city. We were in Tottori to check out some of the nature and to see the sand dunes. It was a decent location and suited us fine for the short time that we were in the area.
Very cozy and comfortable room. I really like the experience of enjoying my stay in a traditional Japanese household property, instead of a hotel. The host has been most welcoming.
Very easy to get here form Tottori station, Staffs were very friendly and try their best to communicate English, Warm and cozy environment, Omu rice Lunch was very delicious !!
A very run-of-the-mill APA experience; however, I did find the rooms at this hotel to be a bit larger than usual. Staff were friendly and polite. Room was clean.
