It has a great sandy beach below and it is ideal for all especially surfers. The room was very large offering fantastic views out to sea and down to the beach. There is a hotel shuttle bus taking us to Shimoda but we also caught a local bus not far from the hotel.

I like the ocean view.my kids enjoyed it so much. I was disappointed of food, unlike last year they serve a lot of food in our table during dinner time, compared now, self service and only few menus in there with the same price last year.😔😕

Went to Shimoda mid Sept which was lean season for summer adventure so less people around. It offers good beaches and many water activities. Stayed for a week which gives us relaxing time to enjoy the beach and places to see.

Great town right on the coast, has a number of great beaches nearby and beautiful rocky coastlines and cliffs to see. It is more of a tourist town though, so expect prices of things to be high. Be ready to hear constantly about Commodore Perry and the Black Ships! Some things require you to sign up or buy tickets well in advance; it's worth looking up anything you're interested in trying beforehand to see if it does.
Best coffee we had was at the Hana Cafe, best food was the South Cafe.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Beach Inn Shirahama. It's right across the street from a lovely beach and the breakfast was quite nice. We loved the 2 outdoor onsens that are built on the 1F. Great to watch the stars from there amidst the treetops!
Amazing stay. From when I got recommended about this hostel, to checking the photos, to getting there (even on a rainy day), I was amazed by the view and the interior. It's a very nice designed space for travellers to enjoy the seaside of Shimoda. You can use the bikes (for free) and rent surf boards and stand up paddling boards. The owners were really nice, always hanging out and chatting with everyone. The vibes there were great!! Beds were comfortable, the whole place was always so clean. Arigato gozaimasu!
The hosts were lovely (spoke english) and it was great to roll into a japanese way of living in the house. Was one of the best parts of my stay in Japan. Lovely beaches and coast nearby. The bus (S30 stand 9 if I recall) leaves from right outside the railway station so it's easy. Bus drops you at the beach a short walk to the property. Buses run regularly around the area and there is a two day bus pass you can get from place next to McDonalds straight outside the railway station.
We loved the swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Our room was clean and the view was lovely. We enjoyed the outdoor bath, and the BBQ restaurant that is right next door (unfortunately they are doing some expansion/ construction right now, so the area wasn't as scenic). Breakfast was delicious. We were able to walk to the beach pretty easily: downhill about ten minutes to Shirahama Beach (lots of surfers). We also walked 20 minutes to Sotoura Beach the other direction.
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Staff was limited on English but went above and beyond to communicate with us. Staff even came out and “chatted” with the kids and I while my husband checked it. Pool and Onsen was amazing. Wish we would have tried the massage parlor or the restaurant at the hotel but simply didn’t have time. I dont know if it’s customary in all Japanese hotels but I LOVED that they set up and took down your Japanese style beds every day.
Shimoda is really far away from all the main city, this is one of the biggest hotel available here. For the stay, it is value for money. It has a spacious room, with all the basic facilities. The most important thing is it has a public onsen place on the second floor, and a gaming area on the first floor, you can play American Pool for free there.
Staff are nice and try their best to serve you even they cannot speak very well English. Much appreciated.
Room was nice and big enough for two. AC works well. No problems with the shared bathroom. The location is alright (10 min walk from the station) but could be better. There's a good and cheap fish restaurant close by but nothing else much. There's a bus stop right in front to take a bus to Shirahama.
The apartment is very open and has plenty of space. It has a great kitchen which we took advantage of and a shower that holds multiple people which is nice. The host is super nice and answered all questions quickly. You can not beat the location in Shimoda and everything is convenient around you.
We loved the location! Right across the street from Shirahama beach and shrine. Walking distance to Family Mart. The inn is surrounded by a handful of restaurants. The complimentary breakfast and coffee was nice to have every morning. The staff was so kind and helpful!
- Privileged location nearby Shirahama Beach and Seven Eleven konbini
- Nice dinner and Japanese breakfast
- Nice hot ofuro (do not recommend if you have a sunburned skin though 😅)
- Minibar in the room
- Flexibility to park the car before check-in
We went here for a weekend trip to the Shimoda area, it's a nicely decorated place in surf-style, the host was nice and even let us pick our room-style. The location is right in front of a bus stop and very close to the beach.
The location is too good with the full ocean view rooms!!
The beach near the hotel is almost like a private beach!! Free breakfast! Free dinner!! With free nomihodai!!
This is definitely Great to stay with your family!!!
The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The japanese room is perfect with beachfront view on the balcony. The wifi is fast. The beach is awesome for swimming with my kids. Everything is awesome.
The room was nice with beautiful view, the owner is very kind, there is a huge bath when you want to relax after day at beach. I really recommend this hotel !
