Great location, just seconds away from the bus station and near the main spots to visit in Utoro. Everything is clean and has a new feeling to it. The hostess was really kind, and we spoke both in japanese and english. The food is also delicious, and quite different from what I had tried so far in Japan, really recommend trying it out. This part is not related to the accomodation, but if you want to book a tour of the Five Lakes area (mandatory in bear season), I really recommend Hataya-san from Shinra, a tour company with an office close by. The experience is really worth it, and it includes transportation between your accomodation and the Five Lakes.

My son absolutely loved the play room! (a bigger selection of music would be appreciated by parents who are in there with their kids for an extended period of time.) The staff were all great-thank you! What we did not find good is the timing of breakfast - it starts at 07:00 through 08:30 (until 09:00 to finish up). Especially when on vacation with small kids, breakfast was too early and too rushed. The lobby is beautiful but the care of curating it unfortunately could not be seen in the room that we had. It was functional and that was OK.
