Very special and authentic experience in the rural area of the Dana reserve. Mohammed and his friends do everything to make your stay comfortable and special. We took the beautiful Dana trail starting behind the tower Hotel in Dana village until Feynan ecolodge (4h, fast to normal walking pace, little breaks) where Mohammed picked us up by jeep for the last remaining 5 km to the camp. During the dana trail you cross various bedouin villages where people offered us tea. At the camp we got served a delicious home cooked meal. The next morning after a traditional bedouin breakfast we took the stunning Wadi Ghwer trail back, 5h (attention, no signal). Mohammed kindly arranged transport for us back to Dana, around 1h drive.
The camp is rather basic and there is limited electricity (small solar powered handheld batteries). So bring a power bank to be safe. During our stay beginning of April 2024 there were a lot of mosquitoes which apparently happens this year for the first time and is very unusual. So we strongly advise to bring mosquito repellent or ask Mohammed if the mosquitos are still around! Usually, when there are no mosquitos, a highlight is to sleep under the stars as you can easily take the beds outside. At the camp, they are constantly improving the facilities so better ask Mohammed before you go about the current state of the amenities.

We loved everything about our stay. First, we arrived at the camp and we were welcomed by Ahmed, we had a chat and he offered a cup of tea. He helped us with our luggage and we were upgraded in a room with an amazing view. For diner, all the guest are in the same room, with delicious local dishes. The breakfast was very good too. We then went for a walk in the reserve, accompanied by a an amazing guide (Salah) who made us discover everything about the desert. we could see how much he loves this area and thanks to him, his humour and his laught, we had an amazing time. My wife and I stayed here two different nights, once before the hike through Wadi Dana, and once after doing the Wadi Ghuwayr hike, starting from Feynan.
The location is very peaceful and rural, within a short walk in the evening of a beautiful sunset view. The highlights of staying here on the one hand were the interactions with Saif, the owner, who speaks excellent English, and is very knowledgable about the area. We were able to arrange our transportation from the usual starting point of Wadi Ghuwayr hike (our endpoint) through him, for a reasonable price.
The second highlight was the cooking; during our stays we had two breakfasts, two dinners and a packed lunch, all prepared by Saif's brother, and all were excellent!
We feel like we experienced a real piece of Jordan and local culture by staying here.
Parking was easy in our normal standard rental car.

I can't recommend this place more! Dana offers some of the best hikes in Jordan and breathtaking sceneries. Hazem, Salem and the rest of the family are the nicest people and help with everything, from organising hikes to making everything possible for an amazing and pleasant stay. You can watch incredible sunsets everyday from the rooftop. Definitely something to not miss out on your travels through Jordan. I'll be back for sure! Thank you so much for everything!!
