Vicenza has all the beauty and history of the great cities...
Vicenza has all the beauty and history of the great cities of the region, like Padua and Verona, but none of the tourists. It's much smaller and compact - you can walk from one side of the city walls to the other in 25 mins - but all the better for that. And the major attractions are the Palladian villas and civic buildings, both in the city and in the hills around the city, all easily walkable - no need for a car. It's a great base for exploring the other attractions of the Veneto by train: Venice in 40 mins, Padua in 25, Verona in 35 (and those are the cheaper regional trains, not the high speed Frecciarossa at 3 times the price but barely faster for these short-hop destinations). Not being a tourist hot-spot, the prices are lower: you can still get an espresso for 1 euro, and that was in the cafe (Caffe degli Artisti) next to the major draw of the Teatro Olimpico, Europe's oldest covered theatre. Superb variety of good value pizzas (and excellent beers) at the Pizzeria Vesuvio nearby. And for something different, go to the Parco Querini: an attractive park but what we didn't expect were the dozens of domestic rabbits hopping all over the place: brown, black, white, spotted, long-haired. Very surreal. Coypu too, swimming in the lake and water channels.

Vicenza is superb for about 3 day stay - to recover our tastebuds after Germany - and is charming for that period. There were a number of exhibitions and museums (and the Theatre Olympico is a must) together with pleasant food, wine and company

We were only in Vicenza for 2 full days so we went to the ticket office and purchased a pass to visit 4 museums/attractions. We used 3 on just the first day so went back for another 2 on the second day (6 in total). Each one was terrific and well worth a visit. There are endless cafes and restaurants so we were never short of somewhere to sit and relax and enjoy great food and drink. Also lots of great shops.
Our hotel was very central so everything was within easy reach. For those who record their steps each day, we did a bit over 10,000 each day - very manageable.

Vicenza is an overlooked city in the hear of Italy.
Vicenza is an overlooked city in the hear of Italy. It has a wonderful selection of bars and restaurants, great museums, and incredibly kind people. The history is everywhere. Recommend visiting the numerous churches, museum of jewelry, and the theater if you have to choose just a few things. The city is walkable with many small streets to walk through while window shopping.

A lovely upscale town.
A lovely upscale town. Very safe, lots of restaurants and bars. Beautiful Palladian architecture. Highly recommend Palladian Tours. We had a walking tour and a self-guided e-bike tour (with GPSand online narration) of the Palladian villas on the outskirts of town. It’s a long but fun day! Avoid the restaurant called Prep on the main square: tourist trap that charges three times the coperto of other places on the piazza, accepts only cash (which you don’t know until time to pay), they insist that pizzas are personal size only even though it’s large enough for two people and will not let you share, and they have no boxes or means of transporting leftover pizza for you to enjoy the next day.
So central, the beautiful lively Palladio city just outside the door, yet relatively peaceful in a side street. Very friendly staff made us feel welcome. In the room, we liked the practical, dark wooden furniture, once made for the hotel; it gives a sense of history; probably designed for the hotel when it was established; still the hotel is all up to modern standards. Fantastic view over the city from shared roof terrace. We felt at home there for two days. Would definitely choose same hotel next time we go to beautiful Vicenca.
This is a great hotel. It is actually a palace that has been converted into a hotel. It has got all the modern amenities you can wish for when travelling. Staff were very helpful and friendly. It is centrally located in Vicenza, close to all the main attractions such as Basalica and Teatro Olimpico. The walk from the train station took us about 15 minutes. Highly recommended if you are planning to visit Vicenza.
We attended an event at Fiera Vicenza and the hotel is 5 minutes by car from the Expo center. There several pizzerias on a walking distance around the hotel. There is a small private parking lot in the hotel and a big public one very close to the building. The room has central heating and bidet. The breakfast is very good. There is a balcony on the first floor where one can smoke.
Upon arriving, I was accommodated very quickly and respectfully. The staff was able to speak English very clearly. Regarding the room itself, little things like a fresh water glass over the sink and some sweets on the bedside table show how you as a guest are cared about. Overall I felt very welcomed and recommend the CityHotel to everybody travelling to Vicenza.
The location was extremely convenient for exploring downtown Vicenza and the rooms were beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the option of dining at Cucu restaurant and appreciated the full kitchen with generous supply of bottled water. The beds were very comfortable, and we were provided with an ample supply of towels and other amenities.
Exceptional room, owner was very helpful. Loads of extras. Really can't fault it. Spent 6 nights in Northern Italy, & this room was by far the best. 👍 Would highly recommend - Others should take note of exceptional service. Cakes / biscuits / drinks & basic food all available at no extra cost. Large balcony.
Lilia was very kind, very friendly and very supportive. I had moved out of my apartment because I was leaving Italy and had so many bags! Lilia was gracious enough to help me with all my bags and made my stay at B&B Vaca Mora a very comfortable one.
Nice spacious and clean room with friendly staff. Unfortunately we didn’t have a car and relied on public transport which was hard from this hotel due to a very busy road with no pavement. Taxi was over €10 each time into Vicenza center.
Santa Corona was a wonderful find for us in Vicenza. The location is great, 5-10 min walk to historic center of Vicenza. Their parking was perfect for us. Classy little hotel, nice, thoughtful desk people. Highly recommended!
The room was beautiful right in the historic center of Vicenza. Cute cafe on the street level with delicious pastries. I was surprised to find a small balcony to look over the street and enjoy bustling night life.
Boutique hotel in a palazzo. All re-done. Refined, elegant, calm. Staff very discrete and efficient. Vicenza in general and this hotel in particular are a great value. Palladio's theater a must.
Staff was friendly and very caring of our needs! The hotel was very clean, the room was comfortable and I liked the breakfast options that were served (croissant, butter, jam, cappuccino etc)
A fabulous hotel with outstanding service and very friendly staff. Perfect location in the heart of Vicenza, excellent breakfast, look no further for a great accomodation in Vicenza.
The hotel is very easily reachable from the station and is also close to the city centre. The staff that welcomed us was very friendly. The room was very clean and spacious.
Comfortable room, vast spaces and courtesy kit with shower cap and soap. availability of parking in front of the hotel. good breakfast with lot of fruits, juice and jams
Hotel is easy to find. Parking right outside my room in a safe area. Dinner is excellent. Nice spacious room. Staff is very accommodating and friendly.
The hotel is perfectly located, it is few minutes walk from the train station and 10 minutes from the city center.
We felt very comfortable and welcomed.
