I was on vacation with my family. I booked an apartment with private garden. A very quiet and beautiful place. It was very clean, the rooms and the bathroom were very spacious. The garden, the view and the pool were wonderful! The staff was very nice, kind and helpful and they gave us all the informations we needed. We had everything we needed, fully equipped apartment (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, shower gel in the bathroom; kitchen equipped with plates, pan, pot, tableware, gas cooker, kitchen hood, everything). We ate at the restaurant and we also drank wine made by them, the food and wine were delicious!!
It is close to Florence, we took the bus from the station which is a 1 minute walk from the accommodation, 15-20 minutes to the center of Florence.
Beautiful view, wonderful staff, good quality-price ratio, good conditions.
I recommend the location wholeheartedly! We felt wonderful.

Big rooms, the villa is old but very well maintained. The host does a very good job and tries to please you. The stay gives you a Tuscan experience and is close to the city. It is ideal if you are traveling by car. The breakfast was simple but genuine homemade

Beautiful town just outside of Florence that gives you a great experience of the country-side. Great for walking or cycling and soaking in the peace and tranquility. Pick this town for your stay if you want to enjoy a mix of the city(Florence) and country-side(Bagno a Ripoli). It is well connected to Florence by buses (10 mins away). Taxis from Florence also cover this town.
Villa la massa was amazing, the staff went above and beyond with their level of service. The restaurants were both very good, breakfast each morning overlooking the river was fabulous. The spa therapist gave a wonderful massage and facial. The chef came out each day to ask everyone if they enjoyed their meal. The hotel rooms are gorgeous, the bathrooms were spacious, everywhere is absolutely spotless. The pool area was very well maintained, always someone to get you water, a towel. All the staff were just so friendly.
The hotel and gardens are just beautiful, even in winter - it’s a lovely spot to get out of Florence, get some fresh air, and see the beautiful Tuscan hills.
I made several changes to my booking, and the staff we so kind and generous about it (thank you Francesca!).
The restaurant (al 588) was a highlight. Absolutely some of the best food I’ve had in Tuscany - making the most of the local and seasonal produce - and in a relaxed and warm setting.
I’m looking forward to coming back!
I have travelled a lot around the world from 5 star properties to hostel, but I have never been in a property that is an absolute 10 out of 10 across all dimensions - breakfast, hotel, rooms, but most of all 10+ star hospitality and customer service of the owner, Tommaso. We have had some unfortunate force majeure happened to us days before our wedding but Tommaso has helped to solve it with grace and graciousness.
We will definitely come back and hopefully not once!
The dinner time at the table with people from different cultures and background is the best time to share and meet likeminded people! The breakfast is fantastic too! Even though it takes some time to get there, you can have a eagle view of Firenze and enjoy the breathtaking sunset every evening! I’ll definitely choose to stay here again for the next visiting in Italy!
It was my first time at a 5 star hotel and it was wonderful. We had a stressful travel day and the hotel helped ease the tension. The grounds were beautiful, breakfast was amazing. We got a little workout done in the gym and felt refreshed leaving. The bartender was great and made wonderful drinks. The food from the restaurant, although a little pricey, was good.
Convenient for 1 night. The hotel is 10 minutes away by car from the port, convenient for relaxing after arriving by ferry to Livorno. A small hotel on the outskirts of the city, there is a Parking space. Friendly host. The room is clean and cozy. On the 1st floor there is a vending machine with drinks and snacks. The breakfast is served in a nearby cafe.
Amazing location in the countryside, so quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the 24 mixed dorm which has two bed private cubes, perfect for traveling in pairs. Building was beautiful and hosts were awesome. Bus 23 takes you from the city centre towards Bagno A Ripoli. Then a 15 minute walk up a hill to a peaceful stay.
Great location, very charming villa&buildings and park area for wonderful leisure time in the sun or under the many old trees. 20 minutes with hotel shuttle to Florence; amazing garden & pool area, with a wonderful view over the Arno river. We stayed in a very comfortable apartment, very nicely designed.
- Grounds are beautiful
- Resturant (Seperate) had some really good dishes, definitely worth visiting.
- Woman handling breakfast service was absolutely lovely, brining us soy milk each morning and remembering our order.
- Breakfast was okay, very few options compared to other hotels.
Tomaso was a generous and gracious host. We were so well looked after. Great room, well located, fabulous breakfast....nothing was too much trouble. We've been travelling Italy for the past month staying at various places and this was one of the best. Thank you for a lovely stay.
The room was amazing and large. At least 12foot ceilings, matching tasteful furniture, reflecting the old villa nature of the hotel. Everything I expected for a hotel in such a famous area. The pool was great, breakfast was fresh, clean and very good.
Every detail of Villa La Massa was absolutely perfect! I cannot explain our love for this exquisite hotel-
The staff, the grounds, the food
Every single details was absolutely amazing!
Tommaso is a great host.
The property is in a wonderful and quiet location and breakfast is amazing.
Go to Bagno a Ripoli and stay in this nice place.
You will not regret it!
