The food (breakfast only on our stay), accommodation and staff were all as one would hope to find. The oly reason I have not awarded 10/10, was that the owner was not forthcoming, except for an SMS sent to us before our arrival, that the cook had burned himself and it meant the evening meals would not be available, necessitating the use of not so local restaurants (30 - 40 km each way). However, we did get the warning.
Offering a garden and river view, Guesthouse Helluland is set in Þingeyjarsveit, 39 km from Myvatn Nature Baths and 28 km from Husavik Golf Club.

We were let down by Viator who cancelled a whale watching reservation we had made without what we regarded as a satisfactory explanation. However we were able to reserve at a slightly different time by going direct to the company in Husavik. The tour, on a RIB, was expensive but superb and ultimately worth the money. If we were going again we would happily spend more time in the region because it is a good base for coastal, mountain and volcanic side trips, and it would be easy to fill four or five days instead of the two we gave ourselves.
