Featuring an outdoor pool with sea water, Arkada Hotel is right by the sea and is a 3-minute drive away from Stari Grad’s center.

Staff was absolutely amazing, they were caring, attencious and sincere. The hotel itself is a gem, its an older hotel but delivers a lot for its two stars. A lot of croatian families were there, atmosphere was very nice and cool. It is not a five star hotel or pretends to be it, but serves good food and lodgind for a fair price in a very nice location. So I have to reccomend it!

Great concept with the villas/bunkies. We liked the proximity to town for a walk and everything was close at the resort

The property was very modern, clean and comfortable for 2 couples. The location was great, just a short walk into the old town. The pool and outdoor space was perfect.

Maria, the owner, is such a a kind person. I only stayed one night but I felt like home. Definitely I will recommend this place to stay en Stari Grad.

Stari grad is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.Lots of very nice bars and restaurants to choose from and lots of little streets to explore.,Public transport is cheap so its easy to check out other places not too far away.We found Taxis to be expensive so try and negotiate a price before you get in.A very relaxing, laid back place, just right for a chilled out holiday.

We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried.
We could not of enjoyed Stari Grad more if we tried. The food was delicious, the people were incredibly friendly, and the architecture was beautiful.
If I can recommend anything, it is to visit Blue Doors. The food was amazing and all the Owners family recipes, the wine we selected (which I believe was the house white) was made next door to the restaurant. All the staff were lovely and we chose this location for our final meal of our holiday.

A peaceful and beautiful port, quieter then Hvar, but still with excellent restaurants, nice landmarks and a lovely feel to it.
Melting Spot for coffee.
You can't get any day boats to the smaller islands from Start Grad- you (unless you pay to do a private excursion) so you have to travel back to Hvar to do this.

I really love this place!
I really love this place! I've been there three times (first time 12 years ago). But I have to admit that prices in restaurants have gone mad this year. I understand inflation and everything, but I've been to Rome before visiting Stari Grad and food in Roman restaurants was 20-40 percent cheaper! Stari Grad (and Hvar island as a whole) is gorgeous! But it's not Rome! And I'm pretty sure it's not only my opinion because I was there a year ago at the same time (mid June), and this year restaurants were half-empty and I saw a lot of people walking away after looking at the prices on the menu.

It's very quiet and small.
It's very quiet and small. A good breakaway from the many tourists! However transport is a challenge. Only taxis available and a bus. Taxis charge €50 to get to Hvar town where all the boat tours etc depart from. So you either need your own car or you need to catch the bus. In June the bus only ran at certain times which limited transport options from Hvar back to Stari Grad to exorbitant taxi prices! Information is not shared easily. One has to hunt everywhere for information. I do not believe I will be returning to Hvar. The boat tours are also over-priced for what you get.
The breakfast was really great and fruit plate was legitimately good (not just melon!) The location is great but a little far - they offer free shuttle to stari grad or you can walk which take about 20 min. They are stumbling distance from the beach, have a great view of the water and generally very peaceful place. The site blends with the area and the decor was very calming. Also did the complimentary yoga class which is a nice feature they have 1 free class a day - yoga meditation, etc. the gym and spa is really nice too.
The apartment was very nicely decorated and well equipped. Our host was very welcoming, offering us transfers both from the ferry and back. She also gave us some nice tips on how to avoid tourist traps (of which there are many in Hvar) and where to find genuinely great local food. Accommodation itself is a couple of minutes walk from the closest beach and the centre of Stari Grad. The city of Hvar is easily reachable by bus that stops just behind the accommodation. All in all, highly recommended!
Beautiful apartment, decorated and equipped to an exceptional standard. Everything you could ask for including a very warm welcome and a bottle of wine! Excellent location only minutes from the marina with lovely restaurants and shops. There is a bus stop literally opposite the apartment where you can catch a bus to Hvar town and it will drop you off at the door of the apartment on return. Hvar Town is lovely but Stari Grad offers an understated elegance hard to beat.
How can you not fall in love with this place? Really beautiful room with astonishing view! Very spacious, spotless clean, all made with the best materials. Great staff who wants to make your stay unforgetable.
Nice breakfast on the terrace where you can watch all the boats come and go.
Beside that all, Stari grad is - on our opinion - the best place to stay on Hvar. A really charming town worthwhile visiting! When you do, just stay at B&B Heritage Villa Apolon!
Hotel Antica is a great place to stay if you want to discover Hvar island. (Hvar town is nice but the island has much more to offer) The staff is great, they make you feel welcome, they give great tips for restaurants, things to do and to see in the island. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is table served and very delicious. My girlfriend was very impressed with the house keeping :-) You will be very happy if you choose Hotel Antica.
Merlo House is what countryside Dalmatian dreams are made of. Comfortable, clean & charming; we hope to return to lovely, little Dol one day. It is close to everything. Stari Grad is 10 minutes away & Hvar Town no more than 30 minutes away. Rato took the time to answer all of our questions & recommend the best places on the island to visit. Dinner at Konoba Kokot & an evening at Hora on the Stari Grad plains are both a must-do!!!!
The hotel offered a lot for a great price. There was a nice dining hall and bar, plus two other bars at the pool, and beach. The menus at all the different places had a lot of options. The walk path into Stari Grad was easily accessible and took about 10 minutes to get into town with places along the way in the event you wanted to stay closer to the hotel. Will definitely stay here again when we are back in Croatia!
The studio apartment had a large, lovely private balcony with comfortable furniture. Beds were comfortable with sufficient linens and pillows. The apartment and room was clean. The owners were friendly, helpful and accomodating. They allowed us to check out late when we were not able to book an early ferry. The location was an easy walk to the waterfront, restaurants and beaches.
The breakfast / food options were great, and there were plenty of bars scattered around with great cocktails which was fun
There was a lot of seating space around the pool
it is important to note this is NOT in the main part of Hvar, it is in Stari Grad. They offer cheap transfers to the main part of Hvar which is handy as taxis are SO expensive in summer.
A beautiful idyllic appartment in the centre of Stari Grad with a lovely patio where we had our breakfast every morning to start our day. Amela is the prefect host; she helped us with our luggage and gave us some suggestions where to eat and where to go. You can visit Hvar city within 20 min by car passing some beautiful bays which are worth stopping for.
This hotel fully deserves its luxury rating. The rooms and facilities were superb - especially the private beach area. We enjoyed using the bikes to explore the local area and appreciated being driven into Stari Grad. However, what sets Maslina apart is its staff, who were exceptionally helpful, friendly and approachable. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Our room was excellent. Very comfortable bed, plenty of space for the two of us, and we used the balcony for dining, and it was perfect. The room is very well equipped, and we had everything at our disposal. The owners are very kind and hospitable. Overall, a very nice impression and stay in the Stari Grad Hvar, we will come back here again for sure.
That was for the first time we´ve had All inclusive in Croatia. It was really light all inclusive but for the price more than pretty good :) Our room with a beautiful sea view was perfect and a bed was super comfortable. Hotel Arkada is in a very great location in Stari Grad - ca 1 km near centrum but with several beautiful approaches to the sea.
Accommodation is in great location, directly in historical city center and super close to St. Stephan church. Owner is really nice and super helpful and hospitable. The beds were so comfortable. We also enjoyed the small terrace on the top of the building which also contributed to great experience in Stari Grad town so we definitely recommend.
The owner is very friendly and understanding. The place is organized with clear instructions for everything (like how to use the appliances, etc). The room and bathroom were clean. The terrace was beautiful and spacious. The place is a 2-minute walk from stari grad and bus stop. Overall, it was a very good experience.
The apartment is in top condition, kitchen has all the necessary things to cook, the jacuzzi is amazing, it's clean and is located on a big terrace. The location is perfect, you are basically in the heart of Stari Grad. There's a supermarket under the apartment, restaurants, market and cafes are a 2 min walk away.
Pool was so fun for the kids - like a water park with no lines. Food was good, staff very willing to help. Spotless clean, thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Walking path from hotel to Stari grad was lovely plus water trampoline thing was a lot of fun.
