I stayed on the grounds so there was not much around the area. Tikal was so rich with history and culture of the Mayans. Going to the museums in the park first is helpful to prepare you for what you will see at the ruins and why. The ruins were beautiful despite a lot of them not being excavated yet . Climbing to the top of the dome the ruins was breathtaking to be able to see what they saw. My tour guide was excellent and knew so many things outside of what the signs explained which made the trip more enjoyable.

Tikal is amazing. The structures and views are incredible.

Tikal is amazing. The structures and views are incredible. The history is unique and interesting. The area is confusing, but just walking the paths is delightful. Listen for the wildlife. Learn to recognize the structures that are not yet excavated. Align the maps they give/sell you, to navigate more easily. Guided tours have two costs: tour fee and guide fee. This was a surprise when we settled up at the end. Be sure to ask for total costs.

BEWARE OF THE TOURIST GUIDES (Tikal or the rest of Guatemala)!!! they propose some very expensive visit on Tikal ($70...50....more or less) there is no published rates....so they do what they want...and they want money. ticket to Tikal is 150 Quetzal if you are a foreigner and 100Q if you are from Guatemala, that you must pay in cash to a bank ( BANRURAL).... and you get no receipt for that!!!

Tikal Was amazing. The ruins were very cool. Many people like to rent a tour guide and they do give you some cool history and educational facts but I loved going in free solo. I was able to explore the ruins on my own time and go to all the different ones I wanted. It might be a good idea to buy a map of the place because there is not a lot of direction signs.

Avoid the middle of the day, 11 am to 2 pm.

Avoid the middle of the day, 11 am to 2 pm. That's when it can be oppressively hot and when there are the most tourists. We took an early morning flight from Guatemala City, then a shuttle from the airport at Flores to the Jungle Lodge. But instead of going directly into the park, we had lunch and took a nap. That way we missed the heat and the people and could wander through the park until sundown. Then we did the reverse in the morning: we got going at 6 AM (no breakfast available that early, so plan ahead) and had the park to ourselves and saw it in morning fog and light, and then returned about noon for another nap before taking an evening flight back to Guatemala City. We had several hours at the Flores airport, so we took a Tuktuk to the city itself and a quick boat ride around the island at sunset. Lovely!

    Extraordinary ruins.

Extraordinary ruins. Saw plenty of wildlife, one of my favorite parts. The dawn walk begins at 4:30 am and lasts 4 hours. Mostly wildlife viewing and sunrise. The evening walk which requires a guide involves climbing a big pyramid in the dark and watching sunset and star viewing. For the elderly or less physically capable, the park operates a truck every 15 minutes from a tienda just inside the gate. It operates 9-3 and takes you to Central Plaza (and back).

This is an amazing property just feet away from the entrance to Tikal. You feel like you're truly in the middle of the jungle. The rooms are elegant and clean with modern amenities. The restaurant has excellent food although expect to pay slightly higher prices; there are other eateries just outside of the hotel that can be options for lunch or breakfast. The pool is a nice break from the heat and staff were very attentive and friendly. Would recommend this as THE place to stay if you are visiting Tikal.

Very close to the entrance of Tikal park, making it easy to do sunrise and sunset tour. Great communication from the hotel. Very friendly staff. While they said they only provided electricity during certain hours (as it's powered by generators), I stayed at one of the bungalows and it has solar panel driven electricity so I had power 24/7 during my stay! Definitely highly recommended it if you are thinking about doing sunset/sunrise at the park to save your time!

I loved staying at Tikal Inn. Their hospitality is top notch. Stephanie at the front desk is very helpful. The staff at the restaurant is kind and attentive. I took a tour to Uaxactun with one of the owners as a guide (she is an archeologist!) and had the best time. They also offer tours to Tikal. The hotel is perfectly located within 2 minutes from the Tikal entrance and surrounded by wildlife. Great pool and comfortable rooms.

Super nice to have a place to stay right inside the national park if you don't have so much time. The staff was kind and helpful and organised our transportation for the next day. The food at the restaurant was really nice, maybe a tiny bit too pricy for what you get though. The beds were comfy and we slept really well. During the night, we couls hear howler monkeys right outside our bungalow.

    (1) Transpor from Flores Airport to the park worked perfectly well. The hotel made the arrangement (a bit expensive but really OK) (2) The location is privileged at just 100 meters from the entrance to the park. After walking and climbing is great not having to take any transport to other place but just arriving to your room and take a rest to recover

Tikal is amazing. they sell it as a day trip from flores and that seems rushed to me. I would recommend at least one night. That will give you the opportunity to spend more time for sunrise and sunset. The hotel is beautiful and the staff are lovely. I forgot my swim shorts and they put a lot of effort to get them back to me. The food is good.

We loved the location and the hotel. It is beautiful. The pool is especially lovely, a great temperature and nice and clean. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The showers allow for good adjustment of temperature. It's a nice atmosphere, laid back and very convenient for the entry to Tikal. I can recommend it as a great place to stay.

Excellent location, just a short walk from the Tikal ruins. Well designed common areas and pool looking out to the surrounding jungle. The rooms are spaced apart with open windows (covered in screens) so you feel like you are in the middle of the jungle. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful.

A very spacious room and clean in a good locations. The location is really exceptional, the entrance of the national park is 3 minutes on foot and the animals are just a few meters away from your doorstep. It is really worth to spend the night here before/after visiting Tikal

What didn’t we like? The hotel is in the middle of the jungle. You could see the monkeys and bird from the swimming pool. You go to bed and wake up with the jungle noises, it really is an experience. With a two minutes walk you are in Tikal.

Loved the location, staff, and of course the bungalows! It was great to stay in the jungle and so close to the Tikal park entrance. We also saw plenty of monkeys & coati, which made the experience really special.

I will struggle here as in all honesty I ended my stay here early. I found the bed was large and comfortable. It is in the biosphere and close to Tikal entrance. The driver the hotel used was great.

Tikal is all about going to the park and visiting the Mayan ruins: this hotel is the closest to the park, literally inside of the park and has a nice pool.
