Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible.
Skala is delightful, but Patmos overall is incredible. We visited the beautiful village of Chora, the monastery of St John, the windmills, and the spiritual cave of the Apocolypse, where John wrote the book of Revelation in the Bible. All was achieved in one day by taxi from Skala. The entire trip was from the island of Kos by ferry, with a 2 night stay in Skala. Well worth it. Wonderful !! There are many paths that appear to be footpaths but are actually roads. Once you are aware of this, it makes it easier to travel with a scooter, which I recommend. these paths are also great to get around by foot and it is a nice walkable area.

Pleasant, very typical Greek port town, with meandering streets and reasonably restrained tourism. Some great restaurants. Easy access to the famous monastery by bus, and the cave where John supposedly wrote the Book of Revelation; also easy bus access to some great beaches (and some not so great). Well worth a short visit, but not if your preference is for boisterous nightlife.MaiteSpain - 10Scored 10

A very nice compact town with a lovely array of shops, restaurants and bars. Beautiful harbour and a stunning hora above the main town. We were there in the 3rd week of September and the buses were still running. Netia restaurant at the far end of town was our favourite, followed by Pantelis. Best beach accessible by bus was Kampos.

Skala is a lovely place to visit.
Skala is a lovely place to visit. Hiring a car made a difference and we were able to travel around. Stefonos did hire cars and bikes at reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this property. Owner and his wife very pleasant and accommodating

This house was the cleanest and most beautiful house we have ever stayed in as a family. It is a brand new renovated house in the center of Patmos Skala. Best location, 2 min walking to all the restaurants and cafes. Incredibly romantic surroundings of Greek churches and small streets with street cats around. We will be staying again here next year. We enjoyed very much our stay thanks to the great location, friendly owners ( stefanos and the boss lady ;) ) and cleanliness of the studios. It was super super comfortable. Stefanos also picked up and dropped off us from/to the port. He also arranged motorbike rent. Stefanos Studios has a very central location and comfortable atmosphere. We loved Patmos a lot. Place was located 5 min ride or 25 min walk to Skala in a very quiet place. There are 2 beaches nearby in walking distance. one of them is right in front the other just 7 min walk. Room was spacious and clean, beds were comfortable. room had a open balcony looking to the lovely garden. next time i visit, I will definetely spent one night in the gardenaysegulTurkey
