The location is very scenic and ideal for exploring Rutland. The hotel grounds are well maintained and despite the inclines between buildings we didn’t find getting around too difficult. The room was a good size, with a large bed and good sized bathroom. The room also had a balcony which looked out over Rutland Water and a couple of seats to relax and watch the setting sun.

Unfortunately the WiFi was down on arrival so no payment could be taken which meant the pub could not open that evening. Tracy very kindly offered to make me some food Free of charge. Which was above and beyond. The hotel is very comfortable and will definitely be back when I'm in the area..
Historic but not much to see. There is an abbey but was closed owing to renovation works. It's a pretty little town to wander in but that will only take an hour or so. There are a few shops and a chemist. We were surprised by the number of restaurants for such a small place.
