A great hotel that we would recommend and revisit when in Arran. Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed a good dinner in the bar and the breakfasts (especially the salmon and scrambled eggs). A comfortable bed and a good-sized room. We loved the wee black duck in the bathroom and bought three!!

Viewbank Cottage, hotel in Whiting Bay

Viewbank Cottage is situated in Whiting Bay and offers a garden and a terrace. The holiday home consists of 2 separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a living room.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we could possibly have needed. The owners were available if needed (which we didn't) but unobtrusive. Sitting outside with views of the sea was quiet and relaxing.

The Garden Room at Amelia Cottage, a property with a garden and a terrace, is located in Whiting Bay, 31 km from Machrie Moor Standing Stones, 32 km from King's Cave, as well as 36 km from Lochranza...

The Garden Room was beautiful. Agnes has an eye for interior design. Lots of extra touches which you wouldn’t receive in a hotel. The welcome pack was all home baked and the fridge was stocked with essentials which was so appreciated. Agnes is a wee diamond. She looked after our every need and we came away having made a new friend on the island.

The cottage was located in a quiet, elevated location above Whiting Bay. It was very homely and well equipped, particularly for self-catering. Products for cleaning, washing machine & dishwasher were provided as well as locally made bathroom products which were lovely. It was very easy to get around the island from here and access the local facilities and attractions.

Oakbank Farm, hotel in Whiting Bay

On the picturesque Isle of Aran, Oakbank Farm self-catering cottages are set in scenic country grounds, just 1 mile from Lamlash.

The apartment was very modern it has all the facilities that we needed. We were allowed to charge up our electric car: we used our own extension lead and charger plugged into a regular socket outlet and we left some money for the electricity we used for charging the car. Parking was easy and there’s no concern with grounding your vehicle if you have a low clearance vehicle. The tidal wildlife on the walk back into Lamlash was special: seals, heron and wading birds were quite typical. Kitchen was well equipped, and there was even an empty double cupboard available for our food (too often other providers leave no space for our own food provisions). Location was very quiet, and lovely views out towards Holy Island and out back towards the (rather excellent) garden. Heating was very controllable. We were greeted with various goodies upon arrival: shortbread etc…

Room was lovely - large superior room - breakfast was good.

Room was lovely - large superior room - breakfast was good. Very impersonal self check in and didn't meet owner/manager. Parking was outside on the road. Lamlash was good to eat in the evenings - Drift Inn and Pier Head Tavern - both recommended.

Whiting Bay is a lovely small village. It is right on the sea with a lovely beach. There is a big playing field with an area that has swings and climbing frames and a round a bout. There are plenty of walks around. A nice golf course too.

Nice, comfortable B&B. Size of the room and seaview perfect. Unfortunatelly no restaurant although it was indicated there was one. So had to drive to find one and it's advisable to book in advance to be sure to have a table.

Much quieter and more relaxed than other Towns in Arran. Glenashdale falls and the Giants Graves are well worth a visit - lovely walks in the area, with very few cars racing past day and night. Lovely, peaceful, beautiful scenery and a great restaurant at the Burlington too - highly recommended.

The location is peaceful and relaxing, with small quaint shops overcharging for the normal things that tourists might buy, very friendly locals too and the B&B we stayed in was lovely. The roads however, seem to built and maintained by rally enthusiasts, the fact that the narrow road leading to Seal Shore is not only incredibly steep (with massive amounts of undulation) but it also has numerous hairpin bends and massive drops on the left side, a few minutes into the trip and it suddenly makes sense why every other vehicle on the ferry over there is an SUV! The island may as well be sponsored by Land Rover, or failing that, the Subaru rally team. It is a nice little island though,10/10. I would probably risk death again to visit for a few days, but this time, im renting a Land Rover, and having a very light lunch...
