Beautiful property in a stunning location, rooms were very luxurious and comfortable and the views were stunning! Vicki was a great host, and the breakfasts were incredible, just what we needed before a day of hiking. It was a lovely touch coming back in the afternoon to home-baked cakes. Would recommend this property to anyone coming to Skye.

Stein Inn, hotel in Uig

Set in Stein and with Dunvegan Castle reachable within 16 km, Stein Inn offers concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a terrace. Guests can have a drink at the bar.

Excellent location and food (the reason for our trip). I had been there to eat before but never stayed. The room was recently refurbished and well decorated but was really small. I mean tiny! Not a problem as we only stayed the night arriving late and leaving early but not suitable if you want to sit and read - you need to use the bar for that.

    I love Uig.

I love Uig. The locals were all so friendly and a wealth of information. It was easy to get around the island by car from Uig, and convienently close to the ferry (we caught it from Uig to Isle of Lewis).

We spent time in Uig because we were taking the ferry to North Uist and then again when we returned from Harris. There are a couple of options for food- The Ferry Inn and Uig Hotel, but they need to be booked in advance, then a cafe and a bar which does takeout food at the harbour. The brewery has a shop there, there’s a pottery and a petrol station and a small shop for food. One interesting place we found nearby was the Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir and the cemetery next door which had a monument to Flora Macdonald and is the burial place of fashion designer Alexander McQueen!

Rather small village with only a few restaurants and you need to make reservations if you want to have dinner. If not, you can drive to Portree, which is a 20 minute drive. Uig is nicely situated for visiting the northern part of the island of Skye.

    Uig is a charming village.

Uig is a charming village. If we had more time this would have been a great base to explore the Outer Hebrides Islands (the ferries departed out of Uig) and it was really easy to get to Portree on the main road. I also discovered the Isle of Skye Brewery is located in Uig, but didn't get a chance to visit.

Uig is a quiet place, perfect as a starting point for a trip around the Isle of Sky. We had a rental car, I'm guessing getting around by bus might be a bit difficult. By car we took a tour around the island, got off where we wanted (Quiraing, The Storr, Portree, Staffin Dinosaur Beach, Fairy Glenn, view points, cafés, museums, craft shops etc.) Next time I get there I'll also plan ahead a trip to the Outer Hebrides. Getting - or even staying - there requires a bit of planning as accomodation and ferries are heavily booked, but I'm sure it's worthwhile.

Uig is not only a perfect base to explore Skye, but it is quiet and ideal for peace and quiet after touring around to get away from the bustle of tourists. The Uig Hotel was fantastic for dinner and the staff were lovely. We ate in The Ferry Inn, it was exceptional. A real treat for my husband and I to have a quiet dinner. The food was excellent and the decor is lovely.

The house was dog friendly, with very little to tempt our young puppy to misbehave. The location was convenient for exploring most of Skye. We particularly liked the Faerie Glen and the beach near Staffin. The kitchen is good. We had no trouble self catering for our family of four plus two dogs. The larger CoOp on the edge of Portree had most things we wanted and the local grocery store in Uig had a decent range too. The beds were comfortable. All in all, a fine base for a week outdoors.

You immediately feel at home, because Mike has furnished the home and all the rooms with love for detail and is a host with heart and soul, who comes up with great tips for his guests and rich information. Each room has a toilet bath, where you will find a nice selection of care products. There were even bathrobes and slippers. Everything is very well maintained and clean. The breakfast was great and many a hotel could take a leaf out of the book. Absolutely recommendable accommodation!

Booked this as the location is only a few yards from Uig ferry terminal as we needed to catch an early crossing to Tarbet. Holiday chalet is a bit of a reach as accommodation is simply a row of five living caravans. Having said that the place was clean and tidy with all the facilities you would expect however the place was a little careworn. Bearing in mind accommodation in Uig is not plentiful if you keep expectations realistic a perfectly adequate place to stay.

Adele’s chalet is located on a brave near the Uig Ferry. We had a lovely time watching “ Ferry TV” through the large picture window in the great room. There is no perceivable noise from the port. The accommodations were contemporary, clean and an easy drive to the Fairy Dell, Fairy Pools and many of the other sights on the Isle of Skye. We were fortunate to have a fully equipped kitchen to make supper, there were no bookings available for supper on the Island.

Lovely home, very well-appointed. The bed was comfortable and there was coffee and tea in the room. The breakfast was very nice. The host, Mike, is chatty, informative and cheerful. It's quite well located at the far end of the island away from a lot of tourists. It's close to the spectacular hike of Quiraing, and Mike will also tell you other scenic places to go, away from the crowds. The Faerie Glen is magical.

We loved having a washer/dryer after a particularly wet and muddy hike. The entire house was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. It was a good location at the north end of Skye, in Uig. We enjoyed great meals at the Uig Hotel and the Bakur restaurant, and at Rankins supermarket we found all the food and supplies we needed for our stay.

Stones has the most amazing views and what a location! Beautifully quiet and the best breakfast we have ever had in a B&B or hotel anywhere. The cranachan, porridge, smoked fish and full breakfasts are to die for! Fantastic hosts with some great tips for cycling, running, walking etc. You will not regret booking a holiday here.

Small but very nice room, with great nature view. Toilet is new, very confortable too. Everything very clean. It is quite close to the centre of Uig, but would recommend to go by car. The owner was very attentious and gave us some tips regarding what to do around. Would definitely comeback.

Skye Holiday Chalets is in a great location if you need to take the ferry out of Uig. It also backs up to a pretty view of a field - the first night of our stay, someone (or a recording) was playing bagpipes across the fields and it was a fun touch of Scotland.

Excellent accommodation for the four of us. It was very clean and way better than staying in a hotel. George was a nice fella/host and very welcoming. The best thing we like is their home made marmalade😄. You'll find it when you stay on his property.
